It’s been an exciting and busy year at Rhayader Motor Club, with off-road action ranging from elite Grand Prix-level enduro, pro motocross, over to youngsters on Revvi bikes having their first-ever race!

And there’s still one more event to go for 2026, as the traditional Simon Rees Memorial Hare n’ Hounds takes place on Sunday 27th September at Cwmythig Hill near Rhayader.
First held back in 2003, it’s a well-established event on the Welsh enduro calendar, taking a hare scramble format. Organisers have compiled an enjoyable yet challenging lap of approximately three miles, incorporating both motocross tracks at Cwmythig, along with surrounding grasslands.
The race will be 1.5 hours long, and entries are available across eleven race categories, from Championship and Expert standard to Sportsman B for complete newcomers! Veterans have a range of classes to enter between over 40s and Over 60s, there’s a ladies class, whilst the young guns can also battle for glory with Youth classes for Under 19s and Under 16s (minimum age 14).

The Cwmythig Hill site was the recent headquarters for the Enduro GP of Wales, and also held the ‘Cross Test’ as part of the enduro. So if you want a late-season blast at a Grand Prix venue, no matter what your ability, why not give it a try?
For those who fancy a bit of team competition, there is also a ‘Best Team’ competition being held alongside the main competition. Teams can be entered for £10, consisting of 2-rider teams; riders are allowed to be in different classes. The lap times are simply added together, with the best combined result taking the Best Team award!
It looks set to be a great day out in the saddle, with an 11am start and plenty of track time on offer!
