Searle & Richmond become British Champs at Lyng! 2025 MXGB Finale - Rundown & Results

Dirt Store Triumph’s Tommy Searle in MX2 and Charlie Richmond in the 125cc class were crowned 2025 Motul ACU British Motocross Champions at the season finale at Lyng in Norfolk on Sunday, joining Crendon Tru7 Honda’s Conrad Mewse who had already secured the MX1 title a round early at Duns.

Adam Sterry of Chambers Racing set the pace in qualifying, edging out five factory Hondas. But once the gate dropped, it was all about Mewse.

In race one, John Adamson of Lexa MX,  grabbed the holeshot, but Mewse quickly carved through, taking the lead by lap four and never looking back. Adamson slipped to fourth behind Sterry and another Lexa MX racer Josh Gilbert.

Race two saw Sterry lead early with Mewse chasing hard. By the halfway point, Mewse turned up the pace, snatching the lead with four laps to go. He crossed the line ahead of Sterry, Taylor Hammal on his Bike It DRT Kawasaki, and Gilbert.

Overall: 1) Mewse, 2) Sterry, 3) Gilbert

Searle arrived with a comfortable 29-point lead over the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna rider Charlie Heyman. The plan was simple: follow Heyman home. But motocross rarely plays to script.

In race one, local favourite Calum Mitchell, onboard the Worx Total Triumph, grabbed the holeshot and thrilled the crowd with a flag-to-flag win. Behind him, disaster struck Searle when his rear wheel collapsed, forcing a DNF and slashing his lead to just nine points.

Race two brought redemption. Oriol Oliver, on his Gabriel SS24 KTM, powered past Mitchell at halfway to take the win, while Heyman claimed third. Searle rode smart, shadowing Heyman in fifth to secure the MX2 crown.  Heyman was also crowned the British under 21 Champion.

Overall: 1) Oliver, 2) Mitchell, 3) Heyman

Final Standings: 1) Searle, 2) Heyman (-7), 3) Oliver

Heading into Lyng, the 125 title fight was between Charlie Richmond and Ryan Waggott. But Waggott’s hopes ended in heartbreak with DNFs in both races.

Drew Stock stormed to victory in race one, with Lucas Moncrieff second and Hayden Statt recovering from a crash to finish third. Richmond, riding conservatively, brought it home in fourth — enough to seal the championship.

With the pressure off, Richmond dominated race two from start to finish. Statt finished runner-up, Stock took third, and Moncrieff crashed out.

Overall: 1) Stock, 2) Richmond, 3) Statt

Final Standings: 1) Richmond, 2) Statt, 3) Waggott

Lyng once again proved why it’s one of Britain’s most iconic motocross venues: a smooth, sandy track at the start of the day that transformed into a brutal, power-sapping test by the end — a true championship decider.
