Ronnie Mac will head to this year’s VMXdN Hawkstone with one goal in mind – racing.
The hugely popular American has been confirmed as part of Team Six-Nine for the International Team Race at the iconic Hawkstone Park circuit, with organisers revealing there will be “no goon riding” when the gate drops.
Known worldwide for his larger-than-life personality and entertaining videos, Ronnie Mac insisted he would only compete if he could race seriously. With respected Honda guru Steve Denton preparing an immaculate Honda CR250, Team Six-Nine believes it has assembled a line-up capable of challenging for honours.
Joining Ronnie Mac in the three-rider squad is experienced New England racer Keith Johnson. A familiar face in American motocross since bursting onto the professional scene in the early 1990s, Johnson was one of KTM’s pioneering factory riders in the United States before going on to become promoter of the Southwick round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Renowned for his speed in the sand, he arrives at Hawkstone race fit and ready for the challenge.

Completing Team Six-Nine is former British Championship and Grand Prix rider Ryan Hunt. The multiple South African champion enjoyed a successful spell with Honda UK and remains well known to British fans, while also claiming three consecutive Weston Beach Race victories. Hunt continues to race competitively and will travel to Hawkstone aboard a meticulously prepared 2001 Honda CR250, with experienced mechanic Julian Dobb providing support throughout the weekend.
With a month to go until VMXdN Hawkstone returns over the August Bank Holiday weekend, anticipation continues to build for what has become one of the biggest celebrations of classic motocross anywhere in the world.
Held at the legendary Hawkstone Park circuit, the event will once again welcome riders and fans from across the globe for four days of entertainment. Gates open at midday on Thursday, August 27, with Friday featuring the popular Show ‘N’ Shine display, rider sign-on, scrutineering and opportunities to meet many of the sport’s biggest names.
The action then switches to the track across Saturday and Sunday as legends of the 1990s era go bar-to-bar in front of thousands of spectators. Alongside the racing, visitors can enjoy a packed trade village, industry displays, food court and the event’s famous beer tent.
