Roczen & Davies win in Detroit as 2026 Supercross title race heats up - Rundown & Results

Round 11 of the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in Detroit delivered exactly the kind of chaos the series is known for, with a brutal track and demanding whoops section causing drama right across both classes.

In the 450 main event, Ken Roczen came through to claim a huge win and the 25th victory of his Supercross career. Jorge Prado grabbed the holeshot, but Roczen soon moved to the front and controlled the race from there, despite pressure from Chase Sexton and Hunter Lawrence. Lawrence’s title hopes took a major hit after a heavy crash and a stop in the mechanics area dropped him a lap down, while Malcolm Stewart fought his way onto the podium for his first top three of the season.

Roczen won by 7.7 seconds over Sexton, who marked his return from injury with an impressive runner-up finish, while Stewart rounded out the podium. Justin Cooper was fourth, Eli Tomac took fifth, and Lawrence salvaged 18th. The result moved Tomac back into the championship lead, four points clear of Lawrence, with Roczen now right back in the mix.

Roczen said: “This was a tough Main Event… The whoops were a 50-50 chance you were going to make it through or end up on your back. I am so excited. We closed up some points, but we still have a lot of racing to go.” Sexton added: “Definitely a great start to the comeback.” Stewart said: “I told them we’d pop some champagne before the end of the season.”

In the Eastern Divisional 250 class, Cole Davies produced another stunning charge through the pack to claim his third straight main event win. Nate Thrasher took the holeshot, but after he crashed out, Seth Hammaker inherited the lead. Davies, however, came from well outside the top 10 and carved his way through the field, making the decisive move in the whoops before pulling clear.

Hammaker held on for second, while Jo Shimoda completed the podium in third after a hard-fought ride. Coty Schock briefly threatened the top three but lost ground after a mistake, while Davies’ win allowed him to extend his points lead to nine over Hammaker, with Shimoda now 14 back.

Davies said: “I didn’t have a good start, but I made it happen, so I’m stoked with that.” Hammaker admitted: “Cole was riding good… second is what we had tonight.” Shimoda said: “Honestly, I was just so bad all day… we’ve got to keep chasing.”

With Detroit now in the books, the championship heads next to St. Louis for Round 12.
