Roczen blitzes 2025 WSX opener in Argentina - Rundown & Results

German superstar Ken Roczen overcame illness to serve up a flawless performance at the opening round of the 2025 FIM World Supercross Championship, the Buenos Aires City GP, while Haiden Deegan scored a podium on his SX1 debut.

It was vintage Roczen. The 31-year-old came into this year’s championship looking for a run of form after being laid low with injuries.

His commitment to all five rounds of the World Supercross Championship underlined the seriousness of his intentions to add to his championship victories.

And he has thrown down an early marker in front of a sell-out crowd in South America by setting a clean sweep.

He took Superpole, won the two sprint races and the main race in a commanding performance to set the pace in the championship.

He said: “I feel like I rode really well. With the track and the moisture, there’s a fine line between pushing for speed and sliding out and making mistakes.

“It happens so quick in the whoops because of the moisture. But man, I had fun out there! I thought the track was awesome and I had an incredible night!”

Justin Cooper took second place while fellow wildcard entry Deegan had a memorable evening.

The American, who was racing outside of the U.S. for the first time, overcame a clutch problem and a last gate pick to finish third in the main race to take a podium and score enough points to finish the event in third place.

Deegan said: “I’m still getting used to this bike, so I’m just learning and progressing every time I get out there. We’re giving it all we’ve got. The crowd was insane. I love Argentina!

“I’ve dreamed of racing against Ken since I was a little kid. I have photos of me in the grandstands, and I had his jersey in my room. So just being on the same track with these guys is a huge accomplishment for me, my team, and my family.”

Speaking about his comeback after a difficult start, he added: “Whatever gets thrown at me, I’m just going to learn from it.

“I’m sure we’ll have situations like this again, so we’re going to take the best from it and put on a show for the crowd.”
