Positive MXGB round 1 at Hawkstone for Adam Collings and the Moto-Cycle Yamaha team

The Moto-Cycle Yamaha travelled to the tough Hawkstone track in Shropshire. With only 1 rider for the opening MXGB round this year, in Adam Collings, our two Irish lads, Jason Meara and Jack Meara, couldn’t be there.

Qualifying, Adam was in group one, setting the 10th fastest time for 19th gate pick overall. He got held up on his fastest lap but was happy with the time and riding. Looking forward to the races.

In Race 1, Adam had an okay start to the race, coming around in 14th place and staying there for the first half of the race. Feeling good, he pushed on to get the guys ahead, but a small tip over cost him around 45seconds, causing him to fall back to 21st. He found his rhythm and got back to 18th place by the checkered flag.

Race 2 had an okay start again, but made up a lot of places around the outside of turn 1, coming around in a brilliant 6th place at the end of lap 1, fell back to 8th, but was holding his own with the guys. Feeling good and loving the track, but unfortunately, contact with another rider resulted in the sprocket and chain getting bent and snapping the rear chain guide off the swing-arm, so DNF for race 2.

Recap, positive day for the first round of the Motul ACU British championship, looking forward to building through the year and showing the work that’s been put in behind the scenes.

Next round is Preston Docks on the 5th of April where hopefully we’ll have all three riders under the awning again. Thank you to our supporters and sponsors who make all this possible!
