It was due to rain at round 4 of the Portsmouth MXC summer series at West Meon. The forecast looked awful but the meeting was still going ahead and all of the regular Portsmouth members were out in force. The conditions ended up being perfect and made for some great racing for all the riders and spectators.

Mx2 were the group to get us underway, Jordan Bachelor was by far the fastest rider in his class and that was proved by his results of 1,1,1. Cool and calm riding let him take a maximum score of 135 points. Although Luke Kennet crashed on the start of race 2 second overall was still all his. 2,6,2 was just enough to beat Mark Atkinson and he had to go home satisfied with 3rd overall.
Mx1 followed after the Mx2 providing the spectators with some entertainment. Nicky Watts was on fire yet again. He is unbeatable week in week out. So breathtaking racing from him and 3 wins to grab the overall. Jordan Carrier was also in a class of his own with some great riding skills on display. He took 2nd with consistent results of 2,2,2. 3rd was anybody’s but Olivier Cook was the one to take it home on the day with 4,3,3
Luke Southern was again unbeatable Rookies. 3 easy wins for the young lad on his 125, 1,1,1 for the 3rd time this season and his 4th overall of the year! Robert Storer was back this week and was determined to give it his best shot to take the win and beat Luke. Although he tried his best he did have to settle with 2,2,2 and 2nd overall. Tyler Kirby got himself in the mix too, he had some great results of 3,4,3 to grab the final podium spot in the youth class.
Alfie Payne took Charge of The Big Wheel 85s with a stunning performance. He looked confident from the start to finish of each and every race. He has been hard to beat all season so far. He claimed all 3 for maximum points. Finley Yorke Williams rode well 3 solid results of second meant it was all his. Young Fabian Jnr Morrison rounded off the big wheels podium. A bad start in the last race meant he had to work hard to get a good result. 4,3,3 was just what he needed.
Small Wheel 85s saw a new kid on the block in former 65s rider Ryan Clift. He shocked all with his races. 2,1,2 saw him take his first victory in the 85 class. Joseph Wright was happy to settle with second it seemed but did also manage to grab a race win. He went 1,2,3. Marley Alder saved his best right until the last race, also gaining a win under his belt. 3,4,1 gave him a 3rd overall.
65s was Riley Northcote’s for the taking. Although he didn’t actually win a race all day, consistency was key to grabbing the overall. 2,2,2 was all it took for Riley to win. Archie Stapley didn’t have the race he wanted in moto 1 and came 5th but he took both moto wins in the races that followed. This meant that he was still on the podium and got t6o go home happy with second place. Toby bond was our 3rd place finisher. After a dodgy 11th in race 2 his others were a 1st and a 3rd. Since nobody else was able to better this it meant he could wind up with a podium position.
Elliot Shawyer was the kid to beat in the Autos, 1,1,1 from the young lad. He was riding at an electric pace and would give most of the adult riders a run for their money. 1st overall was his! Behind him was where the real battles were going on between Charlie Farmer and Leo Adams. Race 1 was tight but Charlie grabbed second leaving Leo with 3rd. Leo wanted to beat Charlie as much as possible so that’s exactly what he did but it wasn’t enough as Charlie had other ideas in moto 3. Charlie farmer went 2,3,2 for second and Leo Adams got 3rd overall with his results of 3,2,3
The Vmx had some spectacular riding on show. Race one was between Mark Morris and Neil Grant. Morris pushed Grant to the finish line but Neil was successful in claiming the win. Race two was very similar, Morris found himself in the same situation behind Neil Grant. This time Billy Hazell was in there too but Grant grabbed another win that went right down to the wire. In Moto 3 Morris came out all guns blazing, on lap one he passed Grant to move to first spot. He checked out and looked comfortable. Billy Hazell managed to move up to second and did his best to close The leader down but was unsuccessful. As Mark Morris and Neil Grant were tied on points it was Morris that took the overall for having the better last race. Neil finished second (1,1,3) and Billy Rounded off the podium (3,3,2).
