MXGB Series Director Paul Irwin has confirmed that a 2 Man Stark Future team racing their Stark Varg Electric Motocross bike has been accepted into the MX1 class of the 2026 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship.
The experienced Steven Clarke is one of the riders to be racing for the Swedish manufacturer, while the other rider is yet to be confirmed.
When Paul spoke to us, he also confirmed that this will be a test year for Stark’s participation in the championship, and no other riders or machines will be allowed to race an Electric Machine in the Series.
Paul went on to say, “It feels like the right time to trial electric bike racing in the Championship in a controlled manner. So we have done a deal with Stark where they will provide an official 2-man Stark Team, in MX1 only. Stark will be there and on hand to train the Clerk of the Courses, the Officials of the meeting and answer any questions. The inclusion of Stark has worked with World Supercross with no issues and with Arenacross with no issues. For the first year, I just wanted to do something that we could manage, where we can work with the clubs, and work with the officials. There are just two bikes out there, it’s two people with an official Stark team, and that’s for MX1 only.
“We want to spend a year building a relationship with Stark, so that when we do roll it out, if we roll it out, it’s super fair, super controlled, and we have got people that absolutely know the bikes inside out, and there are no surprises, issues or complaints, and Stark is fully onboard with that. It’s a case of finding our feet for a year and embedding it into the series for a year, and if it works, we will look at how to evolve it next year, and if not, we will carry on for another year.”
