British star Max Anstie has mutually agreed to part ways with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, allowing him to fully commit to the FIM World Supercross Championship.
The announcement brings an end to Anstie’s two-year spell with one of the strongest teams in AMA Supercross, where he enjoyed race wins and established himself as a front-runner in the 250SX class.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing confirmed the decision had been made by mutual agreement, with the team supporting Anstie’s desire to focus on his future in World Supercross.
Team General Manager Wil Hahn said: “Max wanted to race WSX, so we came to the mutual decision to part ways, allowing him to pursue that and leave on good terms. We’d like to thank Max for his dedication and efforts and wish him the best in his future.”
Anstie also reflected positively on his time with the team.
“I’m proud of everything that I achieved with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. It was a dream of mine to ride for the team. We shared a lot of success and I’d like to thank them for all the hard work and great memories over the last two years. I’m excited for my next chapter and what the future holds.”
The move allows the British rider to focus on the expanding World Supercross Championship, with the 2026 season including a return to the UK as Birmingham hosts the British Grand Prix in October.
It also raises the possibility of Anstie making himself available for Team GB later this year. While no decisions have been announced regarding Britain’s Motocross of Nations line-up, stepping away from his AMA commitments could leave the former MX2 Grand Prix winner available for selection should he be called upon.
With the next chapter of his career now centred around World Supercross, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for one of Britain’s most successful motocross and supercross riders.
