The Motorcycle Union of Ireland, MX Commission, has announced that long-serving team rider Martin Barr has been appointed as the manager for 2026. Martin has represented Ireland on 19 occasions and has always showed the highest level of professionalism. His experience and knowledge will be invaluable to bringing the team and riders to the next stage. We wish him all the best during the process for 2026.
Martin Barr said of the appointment, “It’s an incredible honour to be appointed MXON Team Manager for 2026. Representing Team Ireland for 19 years as a rider gave me some of the proudest moments of my career. My very first race for Team Ireland was at Ernée, and it feels almost surreal that my first event as Team Manager will also be at Ernée. It really feels like things have come full circle.
I know what it means to stand on that start line the pride, the nerves and the responsibility that comes with it. Having lived that experience myself, I’m passionate about giving our riders the best possible support and helping them perform at their highest level. We have a strong selection of experienced riders alongside exciting young talent coming through. We also have a youth development programme running both north and south to support the next generation of riders, and I’m delighted to be involved in that pathway. Leading the team now is a huge privilege.”
