Josh Gilbert to sit out of British GP due to illness

Lexa Racing’s Josh Gilbert has announced today that he will miss this weekend’s MXGP of Great Britain at Matterley Basin due to being diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr virus.

Gilbert who finished second in Race 1 of the British MX Round at Blaxhall on Sunday before a chain break halted his progress in race two while in third, has been a regular at GP’s this year, toughing out amongst the worlds best in some of the wettest races ever seen, but sadly he will be missing from his home round.

In his statement, Josh said,🦠 | Gutted to say I’m having to sit out Matterley Basin, MXGP this weekend due to being diagnosed with Epstein-Barr virus.

“After really struggling for energy at the British I went for a blood test which confirmed the virus. It’s been a tough call, but health has to come first. This race means a lot to me, and missing it really stings—especially with it being on home soil. Now time to focus on recovery and coming back stronger.
“Thanks to everyone behind me!”

We wish Josh a speedy recovery!
