Jacob can Hackett at the sharp end! 90 Racing MXC Club Championship Round 1 – Race Report & Results

90 Racing MXC made a welcome return to the track on Sunday as they hosted round one of their 2021 Club Championship at Iron Works MX.

Heavy snow hit the circuit on Saturday evening making it a winter motoland for those arriving on Sunday morning, but the sun shone on race day and the conditions were good for the close to 300 riders who were keen to throw some laps down after the prolonged lockdown induced winter lay off.

Phoenix Tools Apico Kawasaki’s Carlton Husband took the honours in the Expert class fending off his teammate and young charger Sam Atkinson and John Robson in the first moto in an epic battle to the flag. Robson would take the moto two chequers before the final moto showdown proved to be just that with Husband claiming the overall with the moto 3 victory just a second ahead of Robson, who was a further second in front of Atkinson. Great racing from these three.

Jacob Hackett was outstanding in the Auto’s taking all three moto wins for the overall while behind him Freddie Box and Alfie Pincher traded places for second overall which went the way of Box with two seconds.

In the Junior 65’s Finley Pickering triumphed in the opening two motos over Leo Wright who got his revenge in the final race, but it was Pickering with the overall ahead of Wright with Ashton Kitching in third.

Reece Jones went through the card in the Small Wheel 85’s, grabbing the top spot over Jamie Keith and Sonny Rooney while in the Big Wheels Tyla Hooley was dynamite and took the chequers in all three motos, heading the standings over Jake Walker in second and Bradley Johnstone third.

The opening Rookie moto went the way of Jay Cheel, but Hudson Roper had other ideas and stormed to the next two victories to claim the overall. Ayden Smith edged out Dan Arkell for second after they tied on points with Cheel fourth.

Scott Murray put in a good shift in the Over 30’s churning out two moto wins for the overall. Chris Hughes with three thirds, ended the day on the second step of the podium with Simon Jenkins third.

In the Novice category, the overall went the way of Ben Croft who went through the cards with three wins. Jordan Nolan pitched in with a trio of seconds for the number 2 spot overall with Josh Weaver in third.

Dominic Blood followed up his two seconds in the opening two motos by taking the chequers in the final race to snag the overall ahead of Joe Croft and Tony Makepiece.
