Hillier-Rees wins 2026 Brechfa Bike Rally - Results and Pictures

After a ten year absence of motorsport activity in the main Brechfa Forest tower block, last weekend saw the Dyfed Dirt Bike Club run Brechfa Bike Rally take place in the iconic woods that have seen so much motorsport since the 1970’s when the Carmarthen Motor Club ATS Coracle Stages Rally used to rally in the woods to the 2000’s when the Wales Rally GB graced the forest with the World Championship Rally.

Saturday morning at 10 am, so the first of the bikes kick into gear for four 26-mile laps, including one special test. Whilst the rain kept away, there would be some dust on the forest roads.

The two-day event was a round of the Big Bike British Rally series and a round of the British Sidecar Enduro Championship, with an entry of just under a hundred riders.

Saturday’s results would see local crew Alun Davies and James Ferguson from Caio near Lampeter take maximum points in the sidecar championship class, leading by around 27 seconds. In the solo class, Harry Hillier-Rees would take the points in the big bike class. In the beginners’ class, Dylan Hughes from near Lampeter took the win by just 2 seconds.

Aled and Calvin Wlliams

Veteran riders Calvin Williams and Aled Williams from Lampeter had entered both, having started their first events some 46 years ago, Calvin on the Brechfa Enduro in 1980 and Aled the Jubilee Enduro in the same year.

Sunday would again stay dry after overnight rain that would need some of the dust down. The Dyfed Dirt Bike Club thanked NRW and RWE Wind Turbine officials for the use of the forest. Meirion Scourfield from the DDBC said NRW have been so supportive over the years and did all they could to help the club get motorsport back in the forest after such a long absence, which the club is grateful for, and it was nice to see Mr Phil Morgan at the start of the event.
