Herlings & Sacha Coenen take wins in MXGP Switzerland Qualifying - Rundown & Results

Despite cold and unpredictable conditions at Frauenfeld, the 2026 MXGP of Switzerland qualifying races delivered plenty of action, with rain making the Schollenholz circuit slick and challenging throughout.

In MXGP, Jeffrey Herlings took his first Saturday win of the season with a composed ride in tricky conditions. Lucas Coenen pushed hard in second, while Tim Gajser secured his best qualifying result of the year in third. Andrea Adamo and Maxime Renaux completed the top five after a chaotic race.

Further back, Kay de Wolf and Romain Febvre showed solid pace, while Pauls Jonass and Ruben Fernandez rounded out the top ten. It was a tougher outing for Tom Vialle, who struggled after multiple incidents.

Herlings admitted it wasn’t straightforward, saying: “I had a lot of pressure from behind… it wasn’t easy as he held a strong pace.”

Coenen added: “The first lap was hectic… I didn’t want to take too many risks because the mud is really sticky.”

Gajser was pleased with his ride, noting: “I rode smart and stayed close to the front guys… overall I’m happy with today.”

Coenen said afterwards: “There was a lot of pressure in the last laps and the track was really sketchy… I just focused on riding my own lines.”

With conditions still uncertain, Sunday’s races could once again be heavily influenced by the weather.
