Hayden comes out on top at Willingham! 2025 Lincolnshire Enduro Championship Round 4 – Race Report and Results

Lincolnshire Enduro Club/Dust Devils put on their latest 2025 race with a return visit to Willingham on the edge of the Wolds at the weekend. The nearest town Market Rasen, held their National Hunt nag racing event a few days earlier but it was a different horse power along the road in the shape of 110 enduro riders entering round four in this, the clubs 9th season.

Ran in reverse of the clubs last visit a few weeks ago, extra loops were added in as club members did many hours work alongside landowners enabling additional ditch crossings etc not available in the past to be utilised this time out. Those additions and the two field loops and wooded sections gave a lap of six miles. The weather was kind to all riders and marshall’s etc. The temperature dropped to the low 20’s Celsius on race day from the high 20’s seen during track set up on the previous days.

Not being first out of the ‘stalls’ didn’t affect eventual winner Hayden Stansfield. Finishing with eleven laps after the chequered flag descended on 3 hours, the winning margin for the Halifax teenager was just over a minute for the RAW Enduro Team/Wayne Braybrook managed 18 year old. Runner up and also on eleven laps was club regular and previous champion Dan Johnson. Dan was marginally quicker than anyone else on the first lap (two seconds) but then Hayden pinched a few seconds off each lap to secure the victory. A distant third place went to Daniel Marshall nigh on ten minutes in arrears on the top pairing. Even with a ‘no show’ Jack Rowlands still leads the way for the years spoils. There is now a big queue behind Jack though awaiting any weak spots !.

In the Clubman class there was no doubt about the winner. Finishing in a position that would have seen him high up in the Experts class, Niall Bowker was a full lap in front of his nearest challenger and another previous champion, George Pearce. Darren Wells was along side George on eleven laps but just over a minute adrift. However, Darren does now have a marginal lead for 2025 though, by one single point from Jodie Lambley, with Jake Wilson another two points behind that.

Another clear win was seen in one of the Sportsman groups with Ryan Poole taking a full lap victory in the 4T division. Josh Betts was in the silver place with another big margin over third placed rider, Ross Pearson. Ryan stretches his title hopes out by another couple of points over his main challengers.

The other Sportsman class, the 2 Stroke’s, saw a much closer battle. Michael Hackett took the spoils in the end but by well under a minute from runner up Simon Cadman. Connor Pickering took the podiums final step. Simon has now built up an eleven point lead in class, but once again there’s a glut of riders waiting in the wings for any shortcomings !

Lee Hattersley took his third win for 2025, beating Richard Cookland into second place by forty seconds in the Over 40’s class. The gap between Richard and third placed jockey Dan Brown was very tight though, just six seconds separating them. With only one point dropped in the series so far, Lee may be considered title favourite. Another rider with only a single point given away this year is Neil Tapper in the over 60’s, this time a victory by almost two minutes. Neil’s win was over Kev Bartle Sr who in turn was in front of Mark Peckitt by over three minutes. The other ‘gentleman’s class’, the over 50’s, saw a win for Danny Clarke. This was over Gareth Lodge a minute adrift, and then Andy Jackson a similar time difference in debt in third place. Once again, Gareth’s second spot sees him pull further away for the year. A fourth win of the year completes a clean sweep
so far for Ben Hampel in the Trail/Classic class. Kyle Ardito keeps up the pressure with another second place. Five beginners started the event, with four of them completing the distance. Well done to all of you.
