Last run in 2023, harvesting restrictions prevented us from running in the woods in 2024, and with the mess left behind earlier this year by Storm Darragh, the club faced major hurdles in securing a route worthy of Arwyn’s name and offering an event worthy of the high standards now expected of the Welsh Enduro Championship.

The DDBC crew, however, pulled together and, over recent months, cleared mile upon mile of track to put together one of the best Caio Enduro routes we have seen to date.
With a good-sized entry, the championship class were the first group away to tackle the 26-mile loop of technical forest trails, flowing singletrack, moorland, and of course, the challenging cross-country test located at the event start/finish area.

After four laps and five timed tests, Aaron Gordon, out for the first time on a WR250f, took the overall win from Tom Wright with Rees Jones in third.
In the Experts Class, it was another close battle between Dion Lewis, Jack Probert, Rhys Evans, Tomos Jones and Kris Price for the top spot. Dion placed top 5 overall on three of his five tests and looked to be in control, but a crash and on his fourth test and a mistake on his last test allowed Kris through to take the win with Dion in 2nd and Jack finishing 3rd.
In the Clubman Class, it was a popular win for DDBC local rider Josh Joynson and a proud moment for him being presented the Arwyn Rees Memorial Cup by Arwyn’s son Osian, a very promising enduro rider himself. Runner-up in the Clubman Class went to Rhayader’s Ben Evans, with another DDBC rider, Alwyn Morgan, in 3rd.

DDBC have long been a promoter of Youth Enduro and this year introduced a new class for 14-16 year old riders. Six young riders made their Timecard enduro debuts, all giving it a good go and enjoying the challenge of a 26-mile lap Welsh forest enduro.
Builth riders dominated the class with Archie Knill coming out on top, followed by Thomas Price in 2nd and DDBC rider Celt Rees in 3rd. Special mention also to young Lewis Edwards, who nailed 4th place on his 85cc KTM.
In the under-19s youth class, it was a win for Harry Best, with Jackson Curran keeping him honest with a strong 2nd place.
Zoe Zembruski, a couple of months after becoming a mum for the first time, took the Top ladies award whilst the Sportsman win went to Benjamin James Herein, from Jac Conti in 2nd and Arwel Morgan in 3rd.

Top Vet 40 rider went to Luke Powell, whilst Jason Rees took Vet 50 honours. Top dog in the Classic Experts class was Alex Pringle with Grant Maguire taking the Classic Clubman win from Anthony Gush in 2nd.
The club wish to pass on their thanks to the Davies family for hosting the event at Cilgawod, to Lowri, Osian and family for their support as always, NRW staff for their full cooperation in running the event on their land, Stan for allowing us to cross his mountain to and from Benlan, Jess and Harry for the timing service, Mid Wales Medical Services for their excellent work during the day and ATP for kindly sponsoring the rider numbers and awards for this year’s event.
Last but not least, a massive thank you to the many riders who supported our event – we hope to see you back here next May for our 2026 Arwyn Rees Caio Enduro.
