Fast Freddie raises Autism awareness!

Little Freddie Box is not only a super talented young motocross racer with a number of headlines on this site for his great results with 90 Racing and Cumbria MXC but he is also a young lad that is using his racing to raise awareness for a cause close to his heart.

8-year-old Freddie who hails from Cumbria, races in the Auto class on a KTM SX 50 which this April was decked out in a graphics kit to promote Autism awareness month.

Freddie’s Dad Darren, who used to race against the likes of Brad Anderson and Billy Mackenzie takes up the story, “Freddie’s 10-year-old brother Harry was diagnosed when he was three with Autism and sensory processing disorders and is classed as non-verbal, which means if you are not used to being with him it’s hard to understand what he is saying.  Freddie is amazing with him and they get on really well, and he acts as Harry’s voice.  He is so accommodating and Freddie always looks after his older brother.

“Freddie always wants to do something during Autism awareness month and he had quite a bit of impact with the bike designs. He knows what he likes and for his special graphics, he wanted white to be the main colour.  Tom Barrett really got what we wanted for the graphics and we are really pleased with the job he did with them.”

Starting racing when he was 5 on a Peewee Freddie has progressed to be one of the top young prospects racing in the North of England,  “We originally got Freddie into Motocross as its something for him, because at home a lot of our time is taken up with Harry and we need to make sure he has got everything he needs,” continued Darren. “While we are busy at home with Harry, Freddie just cracks on with it and doesn’t complain about anything which is why we looked to get him into motocross which he absolutely loves.  Motocross we see as a release for Freddie. It’s his time where he and can go and do what he wants and not think about anything else.”

“We are very proud of him, he is always there for his brother, he will help him do whatever, and is always doing what he can to make sure Harry is happy and safe, he will give anything to his brother.”

Freddie has certainly shown that not only that he is kind and caring, but that he has stacks of talent not only on the track but also off of it by coming up with the fantastic design concept for his bike.

We wish you the best of luck Freddie because doing something good should be rewarded.
