Entries have opened for Track N Trail’s return to race organisation with the Borderlands Classic, scheduled for 19th April 2026.
The event marks the revival of the club’s Hare & Hound format, reintroduced with a modern approach. The Borderlands Classic will run as a one-off, American-style three-hour race aimed at testing endurance as well as outright pace. The format is intended to cater for a broad range of riders, from newcomers looking for their first competitive outing to experienced competitors seeking solid race mileage ahead of the main season.
The venue is Thorncombe, located on the Devon-Dorset border. The site has undergone further development since last year, with organisers focusing on improving flow and overall rideability. Early indications suggest a layout that blends open sections with more technical elements, designed to keep lap times consistent while still offering variation across the course.

Terrain will include grassland, woodland, hillside sections and stream crossings, providing a mix typical of traditional South West cross-country events. Rather than being overly technical, the emphasis appears to be on maintaining momentum and rewarding fitness, line choice and race management across the full three hours.
For Track N Trail, the Borderlands Classic represents a return to a format that has long been associated with the club’s identity. For riders, it offers an early-season opportunity to test themselves over an extended race distance in established surroundings.
