Double dipper Dan! 2025 Lincolnshire Enduro Championship Round 7 - Race Report & Results

Fresh from a superb victory in the Over-40s class win in the British Enduro Championship this year, Dan Johnson has now got his sights set on another trophy, this time the Experts title with the Dust Devils sponsored 2025 Lincolnshire Enduro club championship. A second win on the bounce this time out at Round 7 has pretty much secured the title with one round to spare.

Taking place over a mixed woodland/field 8.3-mile route once more at Ingleby, only two riders in the class were on thirteen laps at the end of the three hours. With Storm Amy passing very close by in previous days during track set-up, the main concern for the club was the predicted rain having an impact on the local terrain. However, the high winds during the day before and indeed on race day itself dried the 8.3 Mile track out somewhat to leave good conditions throughout. A little way down the 2025 pecking order, he may be, but Lucas Travers pushed Dan as hard as he could on Sunday, but in the end succumbed to the Champion elect by just over one single minute. That one minute probably doesn’t tell the whole story, though. Looking at the lap times, etc, the two riders must have been riding almost racing in tandem; they constantly swapped fastest laps throughout. There has been a shift in the fight for the other overall positions in this class. With a third place at the weekend, Nicholas King now jumps up one place into the runner-up spot. Josh Hamilton also moves up one place into third due to the eleven points he accrued on Sunday. None of the above is set in stone, however. If an injured Jack Rowland returns to the fray in the last round, things will no doubt get shuffled up again!

Luke Bovington, in the 2T’s

Another name that sticks out from Sunday’s proceedings is Jack Gabb. Whilst the Wisbech lad had a bit of success with the club many years ago, his return to the sport on Sunday after a long lay off resulted in a fine victory in the Sportsman 4T sector..! The battle in this class was almost as close as in the Experts group; just over a minute separating the first two again. In the runner-up spot on Sunday was class leader for the year, Ryan Poole. Ryan now has a firm grip on the title, with just one round to go. A further two minutes adrift on the day was James Cole in third place. To that end, positions at the top haven’t changed, but have become slightly more stretched. In the Sportsman 2T’s, a second win of the year was had by class favourite Simon Cadman. What was a seven-point lead has now increased to nine overall. Andrew Howe equalled his best result of the campaign with another runner-up spot, with Joel Doel making up the podium places. Whilst this class may have a ‘preferred candidate’ at the top, it’s a toss-up for the other positions. Joel has a minor advantage in the runner-up spot, but Luke Bovington and Andrew Howe are now on level pegging in third place.

A maiden win of the year for George Pearce came in the Clubman class. With a pretty convincing two-minute victory on the day, this sees him jump a place into fourth for 2025. A runner-up spot for Jodie Lambley means he maintains a slender lead for the title; that lead has now gone from eleven to thirteen points. Darren Wells took the Bronze medal to keep up pressure on the top pairing. However, it’s close just here, with himself and Ben Lonsdale now on the same amount of points in second.

Another nigh on impeccable record has been witnessed in the Over 60’s class. Neil Tapper has dropped only one point all year, back in round one. This sixth win of the year definitely sees another title in the offing. It’s a bit closer for the other trophies. Mark Peckitt kept up his good form to land another second, whilst Kevin Bartle Sr piled on the pressure with this, another third place of 2025. Just four points separate Mark and Kevin, in second and third, respectively. Regarding overall point tallies, it’s a similar story both in the Trail/Classic category and the Over 50s. Ben Hampel has dropped just three points all year and leads the way by just four points now in the T/C class. Kyle Ardito claimed the victory on the day, with Ben succumbing to the runner-up spot. Shaun Avison lies in third overall with yet another third place. Similarly, in the Over 50s, another rider has only ‘dropped’ five points so far.

Darren Wells is en route to a top-three finish in the Clubman class.

Whilst Gareth Lodge got his worst result of the year at the weekend (third), he still has one eye on the spoils for the ’25 title. He leads the way by eighteen points in total now. Alan Vissian claimed the win on race day, with Andy Jackson taking the Silver. Ian Shepherd is in second spot overall, with Andy in third. The grip on the Over 40’s class title has been slightly loosened somewhat. Lee Hattersley, who was at the Weston beach race and sat this one out, has had his lead cut by almost half. Michael Harris took the win on the day and is the guy putting pressure on Lee heading into the last round in early November. It’s not a done deal for the third place this year either. He may have been a lap down on the front pairing, but in a close battle with Michael and Mark Lonsdale, Dan Brown also maintains his title chase with yet another third spot this year. Just three points separate second and third places.

As usual, the club wishes to say a heartfelt thank you to a long list of people. All marshalls, helpers, scrutineers, medical staff, photographers, food suppliers, etc

The next and final race of the year is on November 2nd. Taking place at Ashby Puerorum, it’s the club’s 70th race ‘birthday’! In addition to that, the club hopes to see their 1000th entrant this year! Regulations for the event will be released asap.
