Dirty Dozen with Tim Neave

Dirty Dozen with Tim Neave

2025 ACU British Flat Track Champion and World Flat Track number six Tim Neave is the latest racer to land us with his answers to our Dirty Dozen and questions, and here is what he came back with…

Dirt Hub: Do you have a Pre-Race playlist you listen to, and if so, name a couple of tracks that are on it?

Tim: I don’t really have a pre-race music routine on race day, but I do love my music and get hyped to go racing with the wide variety of songs from rock to dance. A couple would be It Gets Better – Kettama and For Those About To Tock – AC/DC.

DH: When was the last time you cried?

Tim: Now you’re asking! When Keir Starmer won the election🤣

DH: What is your favourite inspirational quote?

Tim: “Discipline is doing what you hate to do, but doing it like you love it” – Mike Tyson

DH: Do you have any weird suspicions or pre-race rituals?

Tim: No, just a good night’s sleep and good food.

DH: What drives you most to get up in the morning and to go training?

Tim: Seeing improvement and chasing the next goal.

DH: If you didn’t race, what sport would you play or take part in?

Tim: I enjoy my training, so I’d have probably got into competitive running or cycling.

DH: What is your biggest Phobia?

Tim: I don’t really have a phobia, but I can’t say I’m into horror films.

DH: Who is your biggest sporting idol and why?

Tim: I always thought Nicky Hayden was the coolest, especially with his flat tracking and road racing. But right now, having spent some time over at Rossi’s Ranch and seeing how Vale (Valentino Rossi) is still whupping the academy riders’ asses around his track, it’s got to be him!

DH: Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

Tim: Still in Saxby, hopefully with a family and enjoying my bike racing as much as I am right now!

DH: What is your all-time favourite movie?

Tim: I always loved James Bond movies growing up. Die Another Day would be one of the best, I think.

DH: Who has had the biggest impact on your career?

Tim: Pete Boast, without him, I’d have never gone racing. Thankfully, he moved into the little village where I live, and the rest is history. He’s still very involved with my Flat Track racing campaign.

DH: What is your philosophy on life?

Tim: Work hard, play hard. It’s all about balance and knowing when to focus and when to have fun.
