Dirty Dozen with Gyan Doensen

Gabriel SS24 KTM’s Dutch racer Gyan Doensen was a popular addition to the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship in 2025, and he will be back and gunning for the MX2 title again in 2026. But before that, he takes on our Dirty Dozen questions, and here is how they came back…

Dirt Hub: Do you have a Pre-Race playlist you listen to, and if so, name a couple of tracks that are on it?

Gyan: Mostly I listen to Dutch rap always, and also before the motos, but sometimes I listen to the music that was played at the funerals of important people in my life, which motivates me.

DH: When was the last time you cried?

Gyan: Funeral of my Grandpa in March

DH: What is your favourite inspirational quote?

Gyan: Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard

DH: Do you have any weird suspicions or pre-race rituals?

Gyan: Not really, I just try to be relaxed and focused and ready to fight

DH: What drives you most to get up in the morning and to train?

Gyan: Just thinking back to some amazing moments like winning races and being on the podium, and wanting that EMX250 title really bad

DH: If you didn’t race, what sport would you play or take part in?

Gyan: Probably nothing because im not really a talent at something else😂

DH: What is your biggest Phobia?

Gyan: SPIDERS

DH: Who is your biggest sporting idol and why?

Gyan: James Stewart and Jett Lawrence both changed the game, and I think they were and are the best in their time. Outside of motocross, my idols are CR7 and Conor McGregor, for both of their hard work and dedication.

DH: Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

Gyan: I see myself in the MX2 battling for that world title; it’s been clear in my head already for a very long time now. I can see it, I just need to do it

DH: What is your all-time favourite movie?

Gyan: The Fast and Furious series

DH: Who has had the biggest impact on your career?

Gyan: My parents, because without them, I wouldn’t be able to compete at this level, and it wouldn’t have been possible to come this far.

DH: What is your philosophy on life?

Gyan: Work hard now and enjoy later. But also enjoy now as much as you can, because you never know when it’s your last day. But also be nice to people
