Destination Hampton! 2026 Formula Grasstrack Championship Round 5 - Preview & Rider Lists

The 2026 AllClear Services Ltd Formula Grasstrack Championship heads to Hampton Old Hall this Saturday, 18th July, for Round 5 – the Jonathon Rodgers Memorial meeting. After a dramatic Round 4 at Malpas that produced outstanding racing before being curtailed by Antony Worrall’s crash, the series resumes with a strong entry confirmed across all classes.

Hampton Old Hall provides a fresh setting as the championship passes its halfway mark, and with title races tightening in several classes and some notable returns to the entry list, Saturday promises to be a compelling afternoon of grasstrack racing.

Wayne Broadhurst arrives at Hampton Old Hall having won every round contested so far, leading the championship on 160 points. His two closest pursuers, Graham Thomas (156 points) and Kevin Gwillam (150 points), are both confirmed for Saturday, ensuring the top three go head-to-head once again. Adam Hawker (144 points) is also entered, and with just 16 points separating the top four, the Senior class retains all the hallmarks of a championship that could yet go in several directions.

Charlie Glaze returns in fifth overall on 119 points, with Phil Thomas, Glyn Edwards, Colin How and Theo Copestake completing a top nine who are all confirmed for Hampton. Sam Crabtree makes a particularly welcome return after missing Round 4 entirely following his engine seizure at Leamington. He sits tenth in the standings on 92 points and will arrive at Hampton hungry to make up ground.

Hampton Old Hall also sees the return of several riders who were absent at Malpas. Nathan Alder, Nick Chadwick, Chris Chadwick, Kieran Swindells and Ben Crabtree are all back in the Senior entry, adding yet more experience and quality to the field. The meeting also welcomes two new faces in David Meredith (#9) and Matthew Perry (#29), both making their 2026 championship debuts on Saturday.

Cruz Harris heads to Hampton Old Hall with his confidence sky-high following his Round 4 performance at Malpas, where he won the meeting despite suffering a heavy crash in practice. That result lifted him to fourth in the overall standings on 71 points, and he will be aiming to make it back-to-back victories at Hampton.

Reigning champion Reggie Goodwin leads the E-Bike standings on 97 points and is confirmed for the meeting, with Oscar South (91 points) and Hadlee Jones (89 points) also entered. The top three remain tightly grouped and any result could reshape the championship picture. Blake Woolley is also entered, along with Teleri Hughes, who returns for her second meeting after her impressive debut at Malpas earned her the Youth Rider of the Day award.

The E-Bike class is a tighter field at Hampton, with Harry Wicks, Maddie Adams and Florence Rickards absent from the entry. With six riders competing, every single race result will carry significant weight in determining the class standings on the day.

The Auto class serves up one of the day’s most mouth-watering matchups. Levi Collins makes his return to the entry list at Hampton Old Hall following his absence at Round 4, and he does so knowing that Harry Worrall has moved to the top of the Auto championship in his absence. Worrall’s commanding maximum at Malpas lifted him to 93 points, leaving Collins 18 points behind on 75 – a gap that was level just two rounds ago.

This will be the first time the pair have faced each other since Round 3 at Leamington, where Collins was unbeaten. Isla Gannon continues to grow in confidence with every outing, returning for Hampton having taken second at Malpas on just her second-ever grasstrack meeting. JJ Falconer also enters the Auto class once more and looks to gain more valuable bike time.

Dalton Wright remains unbeaten in the Cadet class and returns as the sole Cadet representative at Hampton Old Hall. Wright completed a maximum at Malpas to extend his championship lead to 74 points, and will again line up in the combined Auto and Cadet races as he bids to maintain his flawless record.

Just two points. That is all that separates Lucas Astley (97 points) and Rogan Woolley (95 points) at the top of the Cubs championship heading into Hampton Old Hall, making this one of the closest and most intriguing class battles of the entire 2026 season. Astley was unbeaten through the first three rounds before Woolley drew level with him at Malpas, sharing the meeting victory. Both are confirmed for Saturday, and the rivalry is set to produce another fascinating contest.

Albie South arrives in a confident mood after finally claiming a meeting victory at Round 4, ending a frustrating run of mechanical bad luck earlier in the season. He sits fourth overall on 73 points and will be looking to build further on that momentum. Dakota Wright and Lillie-Mai Warwick complete the Cubs entry, with Warwick having impressed with her steady improvement throughout the campaign.

The Junior class at Hampton Old Hall is enriched by the return of Jessica Cox, who makes her first appearance since suffering a broken shoulder in a fall at Leamington back at Round 2. Cox showed tremendous courage at that meeting by returning to the tapes for the final despite her injury, and the FGA will be delighted to see her back in action at Hampton. She sits third in the championship on 46 points.

Archie Whitelam arrives with a perfect record intact, carrying 100 championship points from four rounds and aiming to extend his unbeaten run. John Cox Jr. – Jessica’s brother and second in the standings on 94 points – will once again be pushing Whitelam hard. With all three of the championship’s active Junior contenders in the field, Hampton Old Hall promises to deliver the class’ most complete line-up of the season so far.

Practice starts at 12:00, with tapes up for the first race at 13:00. Admission is free to Spectators.
