David Thorpe to be guest of honour at 2026 VMXDN Hawkstone

2026 marks 40 years since David Thorpe won his second world title in 1986, and to commemorate this epic performance, the three-time (four if you count a vets championship) FIM 500 world champion, our very own national treasure, David Thorpe, will be at the 2026 VMXdN Hawkstone as guest of honour.

DT will be on hand to sign autographs, and copies of his biography, No Regrets, will also be available. Incredibly, his 1986 Factory HRC Honda RC500 will be on hand for the weekend, so he can do a parade lap.

Anyone who was at the Shropshire venue in the heady summer of 86 were witness to a performance in front of his partisan British fanbase who filled the circuit. The result put the then 23-year-old Thorpe well on his way to his second world championship, even with his famous crash through the whoop section, all shown live on TV- he stamped his authority on the stacked field that day.

Hawkstone Park plays host to a whole lot of memories of British motocross, and no doubt even more memories will be created as VMXdN heads to the picturesque venue on the August Bank Holiday weekend – 27th – 30th
