Conrad Mewse heads to Blaxhall this Sunday on the verge of becoming the 2026 Motul ACU MXGB British MX1 Champion – and the finale couldn’t be staged at a better track for the Crendon Tru7 Honda rider to get the job done.
Mewse officially holds a 26-point championship advantage over Oriol Oliver, but with the Spaniard not racing the finale, third-placed Ben Watson is now his remaining mathematical challenger, 39 points behind with 50 left to race for. That means a ninth-place finish or better in Race One will be enough for him to secure the title, regardless of Watson’s result.
But ninth isn’t a position five-time British Champion Mewse is accustomed to at Blaxhall.
Mewse unbeaten in MX1 at Blaxhall
A dive into the Dirt Hub MXGB results archive has uncovered a remarkable statistic: since moving to MX1, Conrad Mewse has never been beaten at Blaxhall – in qualifying or in a race.
In 2023 he topped qualifying before going 1-1. In 2024 he was again fastest in qualifying before beating Jeffrey Herlings in the day’s only shortened MX1 race. Last year it was another clean sweep – fastest qualifier and 1-1.
That’s three MX1 qualifying sessions topped, and five race wins from five MX1 starts.

And remarkably, Mewse didn’t even know.
Speaking to Dirt Hub after we put the statistic to him, he said:
“I had no idea about the unbeaten streak at Blaxhall, so yeah, that’s pretty cool to know, but yeah, I had no idea about that.
“The race win that stands out the most for me at Blaxhall is probably 2023. It was my first ever 1-1 in the MX1 class and I took the red plate that round. I felt like that was a bit of a turning point in the championship for me.
“Obviously the race with Jeffrey was great and, yeah, I was very fast that day, but unfortunately the race got cut short, so I’m not really sure you can class that as a win, but hey-ho.”
And his Blaxhall record stretches back even further than his move to the 450.

Across six senior British Championship appearances at the circuit in MX2 and MX1, Mewse has topped qualifying on every single visit. He has also won eight of the 11 races he’s contested there, making him the most successful MX1/MX2 race winner at Blaxhall since 2015.
One job left to do
For all those statistics, there’s only one number that really matters to Mewse this weekend.
He goes into the finale with the British MX1 title within touching distance, but isn’t planning on changing the approach that has made him so successful at Blaxhall.
“Championship on the line, 26-point lead, so it’s certainly not over. But I’ll be going into it the same as any normal weekend.
“Every weekend I want to win. That’s the goal for me and the team, and this weekend will be no different.
“Obviously there’s a lot on the line, but I’ll try to put that at the back of my mind and just race how I would normally race a normal weekend.”
Mewse needs only ninth in the opening moto to put the championship beyond Watson’s reach. But since moving to MX1, he has never qualified anywhere but first at Blaxhall – and he’s never finished a race anywhere but first either.
On Sunday, we’ll find out whether the #426 can maintain that perfect record while adding a sixth British Motocross Championship to his already impressive haul of titles.
