Charlie Richmond can look back on an impressive Rookie season in the MX2 class after completing an impressive MXGB debut campaign with eighth overall in the 2026 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship.

The 2025 British 125cc Champion acclimatised well to stepping up to the Pro ranks for the first time, and from round 1 he showed he had the speed to run towards the sharp end of the class. Across the 16 MX2 motos, the Crendon Tru7 Honda rider, who was snapped up by the team after being crowned the 125cc champ, recorded 11 top-ten finishes, 3 top-fives, and 2 top-threes.

The highlight came at Round 4 of the championship at Monster Mountain in Wales, where Richmond produced his best results of the season and his career with a superb 3-3 performance to claim second overall and his first-ever Pro podium.

16 motos | 11 top 10s | 3 top fives | 2 top threes| best finish 3rd | best overall 2nd | 200 points | 8th in MX2.

Richmond was also consistent throughout the year, and it was this consistency which helped him rack up 200 points across the eight rounds, eventually finishing the championship in eighth and level on points with fellow Rookie and his good friend Jamie Keith, although it was Keith who edged ahead to finish the season in seventh.

There were further signs of his potential at the Blaxhall finale. Richmond worked his way into fifth in the opening moto before a crash dropped him down the field, eventually recovering to 11th. In race two he ran fourth during the early stages before eventually taking sixth, giving him eighth overall to complete his rookie campaign with plenty of positives to take into the off-season.

Richmond also impressed on his World Championship debut at the British GP at Foxhill with 16th & 18th in the two motos, for 18th overall ahead of his more experienced MXGB rivals, Gyan Doensen, Ollie Colmer and Joel Rizzi.

Richmond reflected on his season: “I showed good speed this year and claimed my first podium in my rookie season. I didn’t expect any of this at the start of the season.

“Same grind, same vision and hungry for 2027.

“I can’t thank the whole Crendon Tru7 Honda Racing squad enough for this year and especially S Briggs Commercial for being behind me the whole way.”

With his rookie season under his belt and a solid winter of training ahead, Richmond will head into his second MX2 campaign as one to watch in 2027.
