The 125cc class of the 2025 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship has been a huge success for the new look series, which is now under the guidance of Paul Irwin, with plenty of new names getting their chance to shine in front of big trackside and online audiences on both the domestic and international scene.

One rider who has certainly put his name up in lights is Southern based racer Charlie Richmond who since finishing off the podium at Round 1 at Hawkstone Park, has been on a non stop rise to the top of the standings, including victories at Preston Docks and Landrake and a stunning four ride maximum in the Duns double header in Scotland, giving him a 29 point advantange over his closest rival Ryan Waggott leading into this Sunday’s Championship finale at Lyng. With this points lead, a solid ride in moto one, could see him staking claim on the title with one race to spare.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Charlie hasn’t been getting too carried away even though he is on the verge of being crowned British Champ, saying, “I am definitely looking forward to this weekend, and I have just been doing the same training on and off the bike. I’ve enjoyed Lyng in the past so looking forward to it. I’ll be going for the win, but I’ve still got to be smart and think of the championship at the same time.”

Charlie has also enjoyed being part of MXGB this year and taking in some of the best tracks the UK has to offer. “Yeah, definitely, I’ve really enjoyed racing the British championship this year, the tracks have been good, and the way it runs alongside MX1 and MX2 has been good,” and on his Duns domination he said, “Yeah definitely was a perfect weekend for me winning all the races. I knew I could do it as I felt really comfortable on the track the minute I went off for qualifying.”
So what would it mean to Charlie to be the 2025 125cc British Motocross Champion?? “It would be a great feeling as I’ve worked hard for it this year.”
This will be Charlie’s last year in the 125, too, so leaving with a title under his belt would be a great way to bow out, with him making the step up to the Pro MX2 class in 2026, as well as racing some EMX250 rounds.
Charlie would like to say thanks to the following for their support this year:
I’d like to thank my mum and dad
The whole S Briggs commercial team
Airport Autos
James Parker
Moto33
Hardcore Racing
Trak Industries
Mobius
Ryno Power
Goggle Tek
