British motocross rider Calum Mitchell has announced he is stepping away from the sport to concentrate on his physical and mental recovery following a devastating run of injuries over the past ten weeks.
The Worx Total Triumph rider shared the emotional update on social media, revealing the extent of the challenges he has faced since first suffering a serious head injury before later sustaining a broken femur in a crash at an Eastern Centre MX round at Blaxhall Pits. He also revealed he has been dealing with crushed vertebrae and pneumonia during his recovery.
In a heartfelt statement, Mitchell said:
“I think it’s time I let my body rest. The past 10 weeks has been difficult with the head injury, the broken femur, crushed vertebrae and the pneumonia to top it off.”
“I’ve been in situations that I really don’t want to be in, so it’s time to step away from the sport and make a full recovery mentally and physically.”

Mitchell’s latest update comes just weeks after Worx Total Triumph confirmed he would miss the remainder of the 2026 season following the Blaxhall Pits accident, where he suffered a broken femur during the final race of the day.
The latest statement highlights just how difficult his recovery has been, with the talented King’s Lynn rider deciding that his health must now take priority over any return to racing.
Despite stepping away from competition for the foreseeable future, Mitchell made a point of thanking everyone who has supported him throughout his recovery.
“Thank you to my family and sponsors for understanding and thank you to all that contributed to my GoFundMe and this recovery. Everything helps.”
