Blistering Buttercup! Kensworth MXC Club Championship Round 1 – Race Report & Results

Kensworth MXC finally got underway after an 18-month break with round one of their 2021 Club Championship at Buttercup Farm, Chatteris.

Luck certainly hasn’t been on their side with the first meeting being cancelled due to torrential rain. They had the extreme alternative this weekend, with baking hot sun, which made the track extremely thirsty, and the dust kicked up!! So only two blocks of racing could be run…

In the Big wheels Ashton Boughen, showed his class taking the overall with a 1-1. William Murphy stayed consistent with a 2-2, third place was hotly contested with Harry Jarvis and Mikey Ward, Jarvis took the overall.

We saw some great racing in the Auto’s with Stanley Lewis and Zach White going head to head, Lewis took the first race, but White took the overall, coming through to victory in the second. Tyler Moss took a consistent third.

Frankie Donoghue and Riley-Ray Barrow battled in the Junior 65’s, Donoghue showed his dominance though in race two and took the overall, with Barrow second. Sidney Monger took a strong third place.

The stacked Small Wheel class was great to watch, Archie-Jay Girdham and Rylee Clark battled for the top two positions Gridham had the speed though and took the overall with Clark second. Third place was taken by Harley O’Callaghan, whose return to the sport after a long break was great to see.

The schoolboy class was next, another stacked class, Charlie Reynolds dominated the two-stroke class after a successful weekend at the British the weekend before. Alby Smith took second place, Louie Evans third, with both riders having great consistent rides.

Charlie Sellick took the overall in the four-stroke class with a 1 – 2. Second place was taken by Evan Inskip, It was his first-ever race. what an achievement for the rookie!! Ollie Bordessa took third with a great ride.

In the over 35 class Matthew White and Jonathan Pettitt dominated the class making the veteran class the fastest of all on the day. White took the first race, but in the second took a tumble for Pettitt to take full advantage and come away with the overall. Stevie Worts had a great consistent ride to take third.

In the under 35 class Lewis Huckerby and Richard Carter went bar to bar, Carter chased Huckerby down in the first race to take the win, but in the second it was Huckerby who dominated and took the overall. Carter was second, with Jacob Russell taking third.

Well done to all the committee, workers and riders out there today, the conditions were brutal.

Speedy recovery to all injured riders… KSMXC head to Cusses Gorse on the 4th July.
