Moto-Cycle Yamaha travelled to the windy Preston Docks for round 2 of the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship. The team was back up and running with all three riders this weekend.
In MX2 qualifying, both Adam Collings and Jack Meara were in group A. Adam got a few good laps in early, just lacked some pace where we wanted, so he looked towards the races, but he was P13 in his group. Jack just missed out on going straight through to the races in P19 by half a second.
MX1 qualifying Jason secured P12, after a year out of riding at that intensity he got arm pump quickly and was happy to leave it at that.
MX2 LCQ Jack was lined up for the last chance qualifier, but he struggled to find the pace he knows he has, and unfortunately, didn’t make the cut. He knows he can do it, and he’ll come back stronger for Lyng.
In MX2 Race 1, Adam had a good start on the inside and was lying third, but lost the front on the corner and dropped it, getting run over. He picked himself up and pushed hard to get back to 20th when the race was red-flagged due to a downed rider.
MX1 Race 1 Jason had a good jump out of the gate, but got shut off immediately. Coming around at the end of lap 1 in P20, he pushed hard to P13 by the end of the race.
MX2 Race 2: Adam had another good start, sitting in P12. He dropped a few positions at around halfway, he was P16, pushing hard, he made a silly mistake and slipped off, falling back to P21. He put another big charge on to regain as many positions as he could and got back to P18 by the end.
In MX1 Race 2, Jason had a mega start up the inside, coming over the line in P2 behind Jeffrey Herlings. He knew it was going to be tough, so he pushed as hard as he could for as long as he could, eventually finishing the race in P14.
Adam was happy with his riding and pace. He just needs to iron out some of the mistakes, and he’ll be there fighting for top 10s no doubt.
Jason was happy with his riding, just needs to work on bike fitness with not racing for a year, the intensity and fitness are what he needs to work on, and he knows this. But overall, extremely happy to be back racing.
Next round is the brilliant Lyng on the 3rd of May. Thank you to our supporters and sponsors who make all this possible!
