All hail Dale! 90 Racing MXC Club Championships Round 1 – Report and Results

Although we have seen a few Enduro race events in recent weeks, when it comes to Motocross race action, 90 Racing MXC was the first to stage a race meeting on Sunday since the lockdown began.

A stacked entry across the board gathered at Iron Works for their taste of racing since March, and the club did a fantastic job of making sure everyone enjoyed their day and felt safe at the same time.

The track held up well to the onslaught although dust did start to come up, which after the rain the circuit had in recent weeks was quite amazing.

In the Auto’s Harry Dale was in majestic form going through the card for three wins from three, leading by a considerable margin in each moto. Jay-J Cooper pitched in with three seconds for the number 2 spot on the box with Jacob Hackett finishing third in a class with a 40 rider start grid.

Hayden Statt bagged the 65cc victory with two race wins to his name, the other coming from Blake Ward-Clark who would finish second behind Statt when the points were totalled at the end of the day. Leo Wright kept it consistent for third overall.

There was another maximum in the Small Wheel 85’s from Billy Askew who led a talent-packed field with an exceptional performance.  Reece Jones and Josh Vail tied for the Runners up spot but a second place in the final moto for Jones meant he got the nod for the second step on the podium with Vail in third.

McKenzie Marshal, with two wins from three, topped the Big Wheel 85 class over Hudson Roper and Ollie Colmer, with Matthew Beattie the other Moto winner in fourth.

In the Rookies, Jack Lindsay was on fire and based on this form; he is going to take some stopping wherever he races for the remainder of 2020. Arai Elcock looked at home in the Rookie class, and he finished a solid second ahead of Corey Collins in third.

It was tight at the top in the Over 30’s with three riders separated by just 2 points with the top two tied on 129. Dale Brockhurst would win the opening moto and take the overall from moto two winner Dave Hartley. Michael Ogden would hit home with the final race win of the day to land third overall.

Shaun Murphy was the Master of the Adult Novice C class winning each and every moto. Jack Drydale would finish second with Josh Weaver third.

Another rider to record a clean sheet of race victories was Mitch Armour in the Adult Inters B group with Toby Lightbown in second and Charlie Green in third.

Jay Hague finished second in a highly competitive Expert class.

The Expert riders put on an epic show with the racing between the top six out of the top drawer, and each of the three moto wins being won by a different racer. First blood went the way of 4 x Irish Champion Jason Meara onboard his Phoenix Tools Apico Kawasaki who took the win over his teammate Carlton Husband and ASA United Husqvarna’s Bobby Bruce. After a fourth in the first moto Chambers Racing Husqvarna team racer, Jay Hague came to the party in race two and would fend off Husband, Meara and Bruce to take the chequers meaning the overall would come down to the final moto. Husband would save his best to last and backing up his two seconds his final moto win would land him the overall. Hague would round out the weekend with a second position in the last race and overall. Meara’s would head back over the water with third overall with Bruce in fourth.
