Alex the great! ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship Rounds 8 and 9 – Race Report and Results

The British Sprint Enduro Championships final rounds got underway last weekend at Bicton Farm near Shrewsbury, and it was a full house with around 100 riders eager to get back on their bikes. It was a tough track, and riders completed eight tests on Saturday and five on Sunday due to the incoming bad weather and earlier sunset.

The Championship class was incredibly competitive, but Alex Walton just beat out the Edmondson brothers, Jack and Harry, to take the overall win across the two rounds. Harry Edmondson placed second, despite not winning a test, but rode consistently to get a number of second and third places. Jack Edmondson, after winning all but one test on Saturday, finished third overall.

In the Experts, it was anyone’s win. Jack Rowland won on Saturday, but it was Sam Hughes who was victorious on Sunday, with his excellent results from the day before awarding him first overall. Harry Houghton and Ryan Crowder won two tests each and finished second and third overall. James Palmer also won one test in the Expert class.

The Clubman class was equally tough to be in, with some competitive times being set. In the end it was Adam James who came first on Day 1, but his challenger Ash Cotterell took the top spot on Day 2. However, it was underdog Jacob James who, even after not winning any tests, placed first overall in the Clubman class across the weekend, followed by his brother Adam in second and Freddie Davis in third.

In the Under 16 class, Jack Keenan topped the overall podium after winning 9 out of 13 tests and overall on Sunday, with Henry Life in second after his win on Saturday. Jack Sandland won one test and came in at a well-earned third place.

The Ladies class saw only 3 competitors, but it meant the determination by each to win was incredibly high. The results were exactly the same both days, with Leonni Tighe placing first after an impressive weekend of riding, followed by Megan Wilson then Gabbi Hamlet.

In the end it was Adam who came out on top, with Arran in second place overall across the weekend. Karl Greenall challenged the top two to take third overall, putting in some impressive times in his class.
