Adam Sterry responds after missing out on Team GB Selection for Motocross of Nations

British racer Adam Sterry has addressed speculation surrounding his omission from the Team GB squad for this year’s Motocross of Nations.

In a statement shared on social media, Sterry clarified that his non-selection was not down to financial constraints or a lack of commitment, but simply a decision by the management.

“Having seen a lot of messages, I just want to clear up the rumours about Nations,” Sterry wrote. “Of course, I’m disappointed not to be selected and also with how the situation was handled. I’ve got a great team behind me in Chambers Racing UK, KTM, and my amazing personal sponsors. It wasn’t a lack of funds or desire—I’d have happily lined up on either a 250 or 450. Bottom line: I just didn’t get picked.”

Despite his frustration, Sterry was quick to wish the British team well ahead of the prestigious international event. “I wish the boys the very best of luck, and I’ll see you all at the final round of the season @motulacubritishmx,” he added.

Sterry, who has been a consistent performer on the British motocross scene, will now shift his focus to finishing the domestic season strongly, with him sitting in second position in the MX1 class of the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship.

Team GB’s final lineup has already sparked debate, and Sterry’s statement adds further insight into the difficult decisions behind selection, with Ben Watson ruling himself out after initially being selected.  Conrad Mewse, Josh Gilbert and Dylan Walsh have been named as the trio to represent Team GB this year.

Sterry last appeared for Team GB in Assen in 2019, when they finished on the podium in third, with the Chambers Racing rider coming 5th in MX2.
