2026 Sussex Super Grasstrack - Rundown & Results

Last weekend the GTSA hosted their South Eastern Centre Championship and Sussex Super event at Shipley, and considering the current extraordinarily hot and dry spell of weather, what a super job they did! Fighting an almost constant battle to keep the dreaded dust threat to an absolute minimum, thus ensuring the best possible vision for riders, GTSA did not surrender and managed to get the meeting to a point where results could be declared, so it’s a massive thumbs up to them!

With riders’ safety obviously top priority, classes with points-scoring heats only had three outings each, whilst it was two rides apiece for classes which were to be decided in a winner-takes-all final. The day started with morning racing for all of the Youth classes and Clubman sidecars. In the Autos/Cadets, Levi Collins went through the card unbeaten, a feat copied by the talented young Luca Whitelam with partner Ant Goodwin in the Clubman sidecars class.

Later in the day, Wayne Broadhurst (GT140), James Shanes (500cc solo), Bob Dolman (Upright Solo) and Terry Saunters/Liam Brown (1,000cc RH Sidecars) all produced unbeaten performances in their respective classes. James Shanes also won the Unlimited solo final, taking the E.W Preece Memorial trophy for his efforts.
