2026 Formula Grasstrack title races heat up as the Championship heads to Sparrington for Round 9

The 2026 AllClear Services Ltd Formula Grasstrack Championship returns to where the season began this Saturday, 10th October, as Round 9 heads back to Sparrington Farm, Ledbury, the venue of the opening round in April. With championship battles tightening in several classes and a number of big names returning to the entry list, it promises to be a cracking afternoon of racing for the Martin Parry Rosebowl. Many of the riders arrive in great spirits after success at last week’s British Championships.

Wayne Broadhurst, fresh from taking the GT140 British Championship, arrives at Ledbury unbeaten in every round contested this season and sitting on a perfect 280 points. Graham Thomas is his closest pursuer on 273 points, just seven behind, while brother Phil Thomas (219 points) is also entered. Both came agonisingly close to beating Broadhurst on home soil at Pontesbury in Round 8, and will be eager to go one better.

Kevin Gwillam (261 points), who finished third in the GT140 British Championship, and Adam Hawker (250 points) complete a top four who are all present. Behind them, Glyn Edwards (206 points), Colin How (204 points), Sam Crabtree (185 points), Charlie Glaze (177 points) and Den Edwards (174 points) make up the rest of the top ten, every one of them entered. Ben Crabtree, who pushed hard at Pontesbury, joins brother Sam in the field.

Ian Dudley, Archie Palmer and Marcus Crutchington all return to the Senior field after time away, as do Nathan Alder and Paul Dufty, while Theo Copestake, Sue Dowling, Oliver Glaze, Anthony Rowson, Andrew Rowson and Glyn Stanton also feature. The entry list also includes Elwyn Beedles, Simon Bence and Mason Bradley.

The E-Bike title race is finely poised. Hadlee Jones leads on 159 points, with Cruz Harris second on 146 and Reggie Goodwin third on 141, and all three are in the field. Harris, the new British Youth E-Bike Champion, will be keen to keep his run of wins going and close the 13-point gap to Jones.

Blake Woolley (123 points), Harry Wicks (116 points) and Oscar South (114 points) are all entered and well placed to make up ground, and Maddie Adams is also in the field. Florence Rickards returns for the first time since Round 3. Jones, Wicks and Goodwin all finished on the British Championship podium places behind Harris, so expect a fierce contest throughout the afternoon.

The Auto class is set for a blockbuster. Levi Collins, the new British Youth Auto Champion, returns for the first time since Round 5, where he took a maximum. He faces Harry Worrall, who leads the standings on 164 points, with Collins on 100 points and eager to make up lost ground.

Kobi Gutteridge (97 points), who won the Autos Final at Pontesbury, is also entered, along with Isla Gannon (113 points), JJ Falconer (109 points) and Grayson Rickards (47 points), all of whom featured in the British Championship. Louie Price, who took the overall win on his debut at Pontesbury, is back too. Reggie Goodwin and Cruz Harris also appear on the Autos entry list alongside their E-Bike commitments, making for a very busy day for the pair and a nine-rider Auto field.

Dalton Wright is the sole Cadet entry and arrives with an unbeaten championship record of 124 points, having also been runner-up in the British Cadet Championship.

Rogan Woolley leads the Cubs standings on 169 points, and arrives as the new British Youth Juniors Champion. Lillie-Mai Warwick (153 points) and Lucas Astley (142 points) are the closest challengers, with Astley looking to build on a fine second place on his comeback at Pontesbury. Albie South and Dakota Wright both return after missing Round 8, and Lilly Bence and AJ Bence complete a seven-rider field.

Archie Whitelam leads the Junior standings on 150 points and is unbeaten in the FGA this season, having also taken the 125cc International British title. John Cox Jr. is second on 142 points, and the pair are the two confirmed Junior entries at Ledbury.
