2026 Formula Grasstrack Championship Round 1 - The Preview

The 2026 AllClear Services Ltd Formula Grasstrack Championship roars into action this Saturday, returning to the Sparrington Farm venue as part of a full weekend of racing in Ledbury.

Reigning Champion Wayne Broadhurst heads the senior entry, with 2025 challengers Colin How, Ledbury-local Adam Hawker & Kevin Gwillam all hoping to build on their strong showing last season. 2024 Champion Graham Thomas returns to challenge for honours, with brother Phil Thomas sure to be in the mix.

Veteran racer Den Edwards heads to the tapes looking to go one better than his prior season and lay claim to a place in the top three of the Championship. Edwards will face tough competition with youngster Sam Crabtree looking to build on his excellent debut season, and Marcus Crutchington, Nathan Alder, and the Blaze brothers also hoping to finish inside the top eight.

Some familiar names return to the series with hopes of a positive performance. Matt Davis, Ian Dudley and Antony Worrall are all vying for a strong result at Ledbury.

The E-Bike class sees a bumper entry, with 2025 E-Bike Champion Reggie Goodwin returning on an MXR1800. JJ Falconer lines up alongside, on last year’s machinery, with an aim to get some valuable bike time under his belt. 4-year-old Oscar South starts his first FGA meeting and looks to build on his success at the recent Tallington meeting. Newcomers Florence Rickards and Hadlee Jones complete the exciting lineup.

Kobi Gutteridge & Levi Collins head the Auto Cadet line-up, which promises to be an exciting battle between the two youngsters. Harry Worrall lines up at the tapes for his second season in the FGA Championship with a hope to build on his fourth-place finish in last year’s Championship standings. Grayson Rickards comes to the fold for his first FGA start.

Cubs Champion Lucas Astley will have his work cut out in the Cubs class, with Kaylem Bourne returning to challenge for honours. 2025 Cadet Champion Albie South moves up into the Cubs for 2026 and promises to be in the mix for a podium spot. The sole female rider in the class, Lillie-Mai Warwick, starts after her promising showing at the tail end of the 2025 season. Rogan Woolley completes the line-up in a competitive Cubs class.

Brother and sister John & Jessica Cox commence battle in the Junior class, in a repeat of the Pontesbury round in last year’s Championship. Archie Whitelam is the third entry in the Juniors and will be hoping to better the Cox siblings.

Practice starts at 12:00, with tapes up for the first race at 13:00. Admission is free to Spectators (Saturday only).
