The Potteries MXC are the new AMCA Motocross of Clubs champions following Sunday’s 2026 event held at Boraston, Shropshire and promoted by the Teme Valley MXC. Following three blocks of highly competitive action, Potteries, who had finished 3rd in 2025, took honours this year, six points better off than Worfield, with Wrekin in 3rd and Burntwood Barracudas 4th. In a contest featuring 13 AMCA clubs, the Potteries were certainly good value for their win, topping the Vet’s Over 40’s class, finishing runners-up in both the Experts and Seniors and taking 6th in the Juniors.

Although very threatening rain clouds continually circulated Boraston throughout the day, conditions remained just about dry for the 2026 AMCA Motocross of Clubs and first out on a rerouted track, which was also running in the reverse direction, were the Experts. And in that opening contest, Charlie Griffiths of the Worfield club produced a classy gate-to-flag ride to be first past the post, followed by Jordan Wright (Merthyr), Luke Phillips (Worfield), Alfie Barber (Burton), Tom Neesam (Potteries) and Michael Smith (Tameside).
Just a week after securing the Plews British Masters Amateur MX1 title, McKenzie Marshall, representing the North Staffs club, took two laps to pass Griffiths before racing to victory in the second Experts clash. Then McKenzie followed it up with another win in the last moto, this time finishing nearly 20 seconds clear of Joshua Fletcher-Williams from the host Teme Valley Club. Working hard on his normal 125cc mount in what was an unlimited capacity class, Phillips was right on the pace again, taking 3rd with Sean Smout also 125cc mounted and representing the Potteries in 4th. In the Experts overall club standings, it was a victory to Worfield ahead of Potteries and Burton and District.
In the Seniors contest, Wrekin certainly had one of the day’s star performers as young Mason Brown on his 125cc KTM won both of his outings. Having only recently bagged the AMCA BW85cc British Championship title, Mason had to work very hard for his first win of the day at Boraston. For nearly the entire distance, he disputed the lead with Markas Normantas of Cannock; then, with just two laps remaining, Markas fell, allowing Mason to go on to bag the win. In this moto, another youngster had a great ride as Aston Whitehead (Potteries) took 3rd from Jeremy Titley (North Staffs), Louis Tilley (Polesworth) and Jordan White (Worfield). After starting with that 3rd spot in the opener, Whitehead then, after initially gating in 6th, scored an impressive big win in his second outing ahead of Mackenzie Tranter (Wrekin). In the final Seniors moto, Brown recorded his second moto win of the day, leading from gate to flag in style, with Titley, Normantas, Ben Kind (Burton), Lucas Gavin (Potteries) and Tranter chasing hard. Thanks to Brown’s super two Seniors wins, ably supported by Tranter and Jack Hollis, it meant that Wrekin were the top club in this class from Potteries and North Staffs.
If your team includes two accomplished, quality performers, then surely you have an outstanding chance of earning success. And, yes, that certainly proved to be the case for the Potteries Vet’s Over 40s team as James and Simon Lane led them to victory with final team member Steven Miles also doing his bit for the cause. In moto one James, aboard a YZ250cc Yamaha led all the way from Simon, with Lee Martin (Mold) in 3rd, Darren Bennett (Wrekin) 4th, John Littler (Mold) 5th and Chris Gaunt (Teme Valley) 6th. In his second outing on the blue two-smoker, James Lane was even more convincing and right on the full gas, finishing an incredible 29 seconds clear of the equally impressive John Butler (Burntwood), Stephen Thorley (North Staffs) and Richard Tudor (Worfield). Then hammering home their advantage, Simon Lane reeled off another win for the Potteries in the last Vet’s moto as Butler finished a strong runner-up from Martin. With the team totals calculated and the Potteries on top, Mold took 2nd and Wrekin 3rd.
In the first of three Juniors moto’s, the opener was to provide some super entertainment as Evan Evans (Clwyd and Chester), Gregg Walker (Worfield) and finally Harry Knowles (Burntwood) all took turns to lead the pack. After that moto it was though Tyler Lane who representing the Merthyr club was to take centre stage in the Juniors contest. Not to be outdone by his dad Simon or uncle James, Tyler reeled off a brace of wins for himself. In his first victory Tyler had to pass teammate Josh Murphy (Merthyr) and opening moto Juniors victor Knowles.
Tyler’s second win was though to be far more straightforward as he led it all the way from Joshua Knowles (Burntwood), Jess Wood (Polesworth), Lewis Henderson (Tameside), Harry Dixon (Burton) and Mark Knowles (Worfield). However, despite Tyler’s two wins, his Merthyr team had to settle for 2nd spot in the final Juniors team standings as Burntwood Barracudas consisting of Harry Knowles, Hayden Butler and Joshua Knowles earned top spot with Worfield in 3rd.
Although their scores did not count in the final team standings, Boraston also saw three moto’s for Inter Juniors. In that one, Jay Howells blasted to a great hat-trick. After leading the first two moto’s from gate to flag, he certainly had to work a lot harder in the last one. In moto three, Oliver Wade and Fletcher Wright also took turns to lead before Howells came through. The above lads all figured prominently throughout the day along with Richie Baddiley, Warren Sieminski, William Chadwick and Louie Bedford.
