Due to the massive amount of registrations received for the 2026 AMCA British Motocross Championship, the AMCA has announced today that they will be splitting the MX2 and Open classes, which will be a popular move all round.

Registrations are already the biggest for over seven years, and this move could see record numbers lining up in the Championship next year, which has seen their Youth numbers also on the rise, with a 65cc class also being added for 2026.

Competition is set to be tough and reigning Open and MX2 champions James Dodd and Henyry Williams will have to bring their A game to the series if they want to retain their titles in 2026.
The full statement about the class split from the AMCA said:
With the strong number of registrations already received in the MX2 and Open classes, the Championship Committee has confirmed that the MX2 and Open classes will be split and run separately in 2026.
