The 2025 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship descends on the fantastic hillside circuit of Landrake in Cornwall on Sunday for Round five, and it’s shaping up to be a cracker in all three classes.

Crendon Tru7 Honda’s Conrad Mewse has so far gone unbeaten in MX1 so far this year, but there are chinks showing in his armour with injuries hampering his results elsewhere, most notably the most recent Monster Masters round where Lexa Racing Josh Gilbert got the better of the red plate holder and blitzed the field. Gilbert is on home turf too and will be looking to send the local crowd home happy. Chambers Racing’s Adam Sterry is the only realistic challenger for the title, and with some good GP’s under his belt will be sensing an opportunity to claw some points of the 31 points back on Mewse.
Other riders looking to made a punt for a podium this weekend will be DRT Kawasaki’s Taylor Hammal, the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna of Tristan Purdon, the Apico Honda duo of Martin Barr and Tom Grimshaw, Lexa Racing’s John Adamson, Phoenix Tools Fantic’s Carlton Husband, the fast starting Chris Mills, Chambers Racings Dan Thornhill, and Dirt Store Triumphs Joel Rizzi.

It’s super tight in MX2 with the Dirt Store Triumph racing duo of Tommy Searle and Billy Askew separated by just 1 point. Even though Searle missed the last round at Preston Docks, he is still the red plate holder, and he is looking to tough it out this weekend to try and keep his title hopes alive, even though he is suffering from fractured vertebrae from his crash at the Arenacross World Tour Finale.
Askew will rue a bad round at Preston Docks, where he let SC Sporthomes Husqvarna’s in-form Charlie Heyman and the super-consistent Ben Mustoe of ASA United GasGas close in on him, and they now sit just 5 points behind Askew and 6 points behind Searle. Also looking to get in on the title chasing act is the Gabriel SS24 KTM of Gyan Doensen, who is just 21 points down on Searle and with the likes of Doensens team mates Oriol Oliver and Max Werner, and new DRT Kawasaki signing Kay Kassemakers capable of taking a win or certainly getting in the top five, there could well be plenty of points gained.
Other riders looking to get on the box will be Chambers Racing’s Ollie Colmer, the returning Joe Brookes, Crendon Tru7 Honda’s Jake Nicholls and Phoenix Tools Fantic’s Josh Vail, Chambers Racing’s Glenn McCormick and a whole host of young guns looking to make a name for themselves.
Talking of young guns, the 125cc class has been top notch this year and the battle for the title is set to rage on this weekend with Charlie Richmond, Drew Stock and Ryan Waggott all having won rounds and looking like they have the minerals to be title contenders. Don’t count out the likes of Hayden Statt, Harry Lee, Lucas Moncrieff, Alfie Geddes Green, Zane Stephens, Jack Evans and Christopher Brindley, who have all shown good speed this year.
