At the end of a hugely physical three-hour cross-country race around the iconic Hawkstone Park venue, Pascal Rauchenecker (Husqvarna) and Nathan Watson (KTM) were the two big winners on day two of the FunnelWeb Filter GP of Great Britain. The EnduroGP World Championship’s first ever XC race, the event certainly didn’t fail to deliver close, drama-filled racing across all classes. Joining the list of winners alongside Enduro 2 class victor Rauchenecker and EnduroGP winner Nathan Watson, Brad Freeman (Beta) claimed a commanding win in the Enduro Junior class. It was a sunny autumn day for the fourth and final round of the Dave Barkshire Motorcycles Two Man Enduro Championship at Tye Farm Great Cornard part of the double header for the Dave Roper Memorial Event staged by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club. Before the start there was a minutes silence in memory of Sudbury member Gareth Young who suffered a cardiac arrest at the last Sudbury event.

Graeme Irwin is this year’s ACU British MX1 Champion. He’s enjoyed an incredible season, which included a victory run of eight consecutive motos and he has certainly become the man to beat in the UK. A former HydroGarden Weston Beach Race winner in 2013, he can’t wait to get out there again in October and is looking forward to ripping it up and battling for glory aboard his Buildbase Honda.

The Dave Roper Memorial Event is this coming Sunday 24th September being staged at Tye Farm Great Cornard Suffolk by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club. It is eight years since the death of former Chairman Dave Roper and the proceeds on the day goes into a Fund in his name to help and support young and up and coming riders to develop their skills.
