Team GB 6DAYS hopes over after disastrous day two

It’s been a disastrous day for Team GB at the 6DAYS FIM Enduro Nations in Portugal, with all three Trophy teams out of the running on day two after “technical” issues forced one rider from each of their lineups out of the event.

The morning started with the news that Jamie McCanney was out of the event due to a technical issue with his machine, ruling out our Trophy team of contention, and two hours later it was announced Nieve Holmes was also out of the event, thus ending the hopes of the Women’s team making it onto the box after a promising day one which saw them in third place.

An hour later, we learned that Junior Trophy rider Jack Keenan had been forced to retire, which meant all three of our teams’ hopes and dreams had ended by day two of the event.

The Team announced the following for each rider.

Jamie McCanney

“We’re devastated to confirm that Jamie McCanney has been forced to retire from the 2026 6DAYS due to a technical issue with his bike. Gutted doesn’t cover it, for both Jamie and the team, but we will see it through to the end for the rest of the team.”

Nieve Holmes

“We’re gutted to confirm that Nieve Holmes is out of the 2026 6DAYS due to a technical issue with her bike. We can’t quite believe the bad luck we have experienced today, and we’re devastated for both Nieve and the Women’s Team.”

Jack Keenan

It’s unbelievable to be writing this, but Team GB can confirm that Jack Keenan has been forced to retire from the 2026 6DAYS on Day 2 due to a technical issue. That’s all three Trophy teams out of contention now for Great Britain. We are more than devastated.

Now all of our riders are free to achieve the highest individual position they can, and we wish them all the best of luck for the remainder of the week.
