Super Stars! 2023 Revvi South West Super Cup – Race Report

It may have been cold, it may have been wet, but inside at the Wheeldon Off-Road Centre was like a Furnace as the racers in the 2023 Revvi South West Super Cup went at it in their quest for glory in the last event of the year.

The biggest entry of Revvi 12″ 3-year-olds had to undergo two heats and a final on each day with the combined scores from the finals deciding the destination of the cup.

Lucas Gill was a racer on a mission and he would charge his way to superb wins on both days to secure an impressive victory. Theo Vaughan showed immense speed to finish second in both finals and second overall, with Tommy Ashmore riding a stormer with two thirds to end the weekend with third place overall and a trip to the podium.

Tommy George had a great couple of days taking fourth overall, Theo Hancock turned on the style for fifth, Jasper Cook nailed a superb sixth, Ruby Keenan continued her great run of form in seventh, Jenson Wood battled hard all weekend long for eighth, and Bear Todd rattled off a pair of A final finishes for a good ninth. Ronnie Marchant made it into the top ten with some super rides, Hunter Brierley hammered home a mighty fine eleventh, Charlie Smith shined bright in twelfth, Lawson Taylor battled hard for a strong thirteenth, Vinnie Legg kept smiling and grabbed a super fourteenth, Chase Dunston won the Best Non Revvi award with a fine fifteenth, and Junior Hayne rode well on Saturday to claim sixteenth.

The Revvi 12″ 4-5 year old category was decided over six point scoring races, with three on each day. Blake Benson showed a masterclass of riding with six wins from six and rightfully being awarded with the Super Cup and the Number prize board for his efforts. The big battle in this class was for second with Viktor Konarzewski and Gunnar Day going at it all weekend long with plenty of drama along the way too. It was Viktor though would would take second in the end with Gunnar third with both riders showing great sportsmanship at the end of each race. Great racing guys. Walter Shingler Hulme fired home sixth fantastic fourth place finishes for fourth overall, the busy Theo Hancock was well in the mix with the older kids in fifth, Tommy Brace showed speed and style in abundance for sixth, James Rock claimed a great seventh, and Ronnie Gardner had some super rides for eighth.

In the Revvi 16″ Standard 3-4 year old class which was again fought over six races it was Rueben Scrivens who started the weekend off the best with a tremendous race one victory from then on in Ronnie Evans put the hammer down, powering to the chequered flag in the next five races to take the title. Logan Thornton, Rueben and Milo Collinson fought hard all weekend long with some great battles between them but it was Logan who came through with five fantastic seconds to take second overall. Rueben would finish the weekend in third while Milo Collinson showed how well he can ride on a 16″ bike in fourth.

The Revvi 16″ Open 3-4 year old class was all action with drama in every one of the six races. No matter what obstacles were thrown at him, Rhys Bennison powered through them all with a smile on his face and an abundance of speed, and with five awesome race wins from six the Cup would be his but he didn’t have it easy with Oliver Harrington and Rory Ritzka putting in a great fight with some epic battles with Rhys and Harvey Nicol. A point scoring glitch meant that Oliver and Rory would finish the event with joint second which was thoroughly deserved by them both. Harvey is a multi time 12″ champ and showed his style on a 16″ with a great third place overall. George Fenwick made some amazing starts which helped him power to fourth overall, Mason Cooke improved as the weekend went on and racked up enough points for a fantastic fifth, Tommy White landed some great race results for sixth, Tommy Brace rode his socks off for seventh, Reggie Herring was in full send mode and claimed eighth and James Rock had some great rides for ninth.

Over in the Revvi 16″ Standard 5-6 year old class Martha Gill showed immense speed for a full house of race wins and the Super Cup title. Well done Martha. Archie Gill (no relation) had a storming weekend to finish an excellent second. Alfie Puddy had some marvellous rides to finish third with Cohen Fewings duking it out with him taking a great and hard earned fourth. Louie Smith made the step up to the older age group and showed he is a real contender with a super fifth, Heidi Robinson never stops smiling but it doesn’t detract from her speed and she finished an awesome sixth, while Lola Rose Smith had a fantastic weekend and showed superb progress in seventh.

The super competitive Revvi 16″ Open 5-6-year-old category saw two of the season stand-out riders go head to head, with Oscar Duckworth coming up against the newly elevated Blake Benson. Oscar, though, would have enough in the tank to claim the title, although he wouldn’t have it easy as Blake would take a race win from him and push him all of the way in the others to finish second overall. Epic racing guys!

Grayson-Blake Martin fought hard all weekend long and rode excellent to finish third ahead of Beau Baker, who showed consistency and style for fourth overall with a great third in this final race. Frank Southcott powered to a fantastic fifth with some good rides, Gunnar Day saved the best until last where he recorded a tremendous fourth on his way to sixth overall, Heidi Robinson continued to smile and ride well in seventh, Louie Bryant claimed eighth although his big results would come in the Mini E Class, and Elsie Evans would end her weekend with a good ninth.

The Revvi 16″ 7-8 class was an all-girl affair, and it was Emelia Bryant who would use her experience and excellent technique to claim all six race victories and the title. Vivienne Western was fast and smooth on her way to a fantastic second overall, Emy Gardner fired in some great races for a place on the podium in third, and Louise Mardell took a might fine fourth. Great racing girls. Martha Gill also joined in the party for a few races too.
