Mud, Rain and Glory! Revvi Cup @ LDR – Race Report
Hot off the heels of the Electric Dirt Bike Festival at the Greenfield Dirt Track, the EXGB team travelled to Gloucestershire at the weekend to host their latest Revvi Cup Electric Balance Bike event at the excellent LDR Training Facility.

With the dark clouds looming and over 100 eager Revvi racers super keen to get on track, the EXGB wasted no time in getting the action underway with a stacked Revvi 12′ Open 3 year old class leading off proceedings.
The first two blocks of racing were completed in the dry, but towards the end of the second block, the rain started to fall, so the decision was made to make the third block of racing the finals.
The final block was a challenge, but one thing was learned at the weekend, and that is the little Revvi racers love a challenge, and they love the mud, and despite the rain, the mud and the slipperiness they never gave up and showed true grit and determination which bodes well for the future of our sport. Fair play to the Adults as they also had to get stuck in, wet and muddy as they helped the riders through the tricky bits and pick them up when they came off.
Back to the Revvi 12″ Open 3 years of age class where one rider was on a mission from the get go and that was Lucas Gill. Lucas looked at home from the very beginning, winning both of his heat races before powering to victory in the A final where even the rain didn’t seem to slow him down. Ralphie McCorkell saved his best to last and showed he likes the wet stuff by finishing second, with Tommy Ashmore also riding fantastic to take the third step of the podium. Also at the sharp end were Rio Dodd in fourth, Theo Hancock in fifth, after taking a great 1st heat win, Harley Patel was sixth, another heat one winner Lawson Taylor was seventh, Jasper Cook was eighth, Maddox Buckley who chalked up a heat 2 victory was ninth, Hunter Ridgway was tenth, Jenson Wood was eleventh and James Rock Robin was twelfth. Well done to these twelve for qualifying through to the A final in a rammed class of great little riders.
In the B Final Mason Cooke came to the fore to take the chequers ahead of Hunter Brierley in second with Tristan Bailey in third. Fourth place went the way of Rory Lennon, Jesse Sheldon was fifth, Arlo Perkins claimed sixth, Tommy Pridmore took seventh, and Tommy Sedgemore was eighth. In ninth was Theo Morley, with Rupert Bowker tenth, Rosie Sheppard eleventh and Junior Hayne was twelfth.
The C Final racers also duked it out in tricky conditions for their own slice of glory with Jimmy Smith coming out on top ahead of James Bushnell in second and Ronnie Marchant in third. Well done also to Rupert Keenan who had some good races earlier in the day.
The Revvi 12′ Open 4-5 years of age category is always super fast and the fastest of the lot was Blake Benson who took all three race wins to win the coveted Revvi Cup. Louie Bryant battled hard all day long and finished an excellent second overall notching up another podium finish. Tommy Brace improved as the day went on and revelled in the mud to claim third, with Gunnar Day riding great for fourth. Carson Mathias was on the gas in all three races and finished fifth, Walter Shingler-Hulme toughed it out for sixth, Eric Sallis was seventh, Reuben Hall was eighth, Victor Konarzewski came home in ninth, Lennon Wise was tenth, Aria Jones was eleventh, Emiliano Otalora was twelfth, and Ralph Bowker was thirteenth.
Max James Good was flying in the Revvi 16″ Standard 3-4 year old class and with a hat-trick of race wins would be crowned the Revvi Cup champion in this category. Louie Smith continued his great run of form to finish the day in second, with Zara Jackson landing third overall with some fantastic riding throughout the day. Ethan Rudd pitched in with some superb rides for fourth, Ronnie Evans fired his way to fifth, and Buddy Burns had some good races on his way to sixth. Reuben Scrivens ended the day in seventh, Max Goldie-Jones was eighth, and Ruby Clune was ninth.
The Revvi 16″ Open 3-4 years of age class was packed with two heats of racers having to battle it out to qualify through to the A Final. By their Final things were getting increasingly wet and tricky but this played into the hands of class debutant Harvey Nicol who moved up from the 12″ category at this event. Come the final Harvey was sporting a beaming smile, showing his love of the muddy condition’s on his way to the win. Junior Garbutt was another racer that revelled in the wet and came through for second, while Rhys Bennison rode a stormer to finish third. Tommy Brace got plenty of laps in over the day and finished a great fourth, with Oliver Harrington who had a good heat win earlier in the day in fifth. Another busy rider was Ethan Rudd who took sixth, Tommy White was seventh, Gunnar Day was eighth, and George Fenwick was ninth.
In the B Final the chequers went the way of George Driver ahead of Albie Wood and Theo Hancock. Other riders who raced in the earlier heats but not in the finals were Eli Walton who won his second heat, Aliyas-John Westwick and Finley Gardner.
Like her brother Lucas, Martha Gill was on a rock propelled in the Revvi 16″ Standard 5-6 years of age class, storming to all three race wins to take home the cup. Stephen James Peters pitched in with three great races to finish second overall (a mistake with the results meant he wouldn’t be presented on the podium) with Archie Gill and Russell Swambo having some fantastic rides to tie on points in third. Alfie Puddy had a trio of good rides to finish fifth, Jude Parsler on the EXGB bike finished a superb sixth and Parker Herbert rode well for seventh. Darcie Crane who has some of the best looking bikes finished the day in eighth, River Mathias was ninth, Billie Burns was tenth, Roman Natale was eleventh and Fox Smith was twelfth.
A quick switcheroo saw the Revvi 16″ Open 5-6 class have two heats of riders with 16 racers duking it out for Revvi Cup glory. Making their way to the final with maximum points and looking super fast at the front was Oscar Duckworth who can add this cup to the Revvi Masters he won at Greenfield in August. In the Muddy A final Oscar couldn’t relax though as Frank Southcott showed his mud skills and came through the pack to close in on the leader towards the end of the race, finishing an excellent second. Blake Benson made an impressive debut in the 5-6 year old class and got on the box with a good third. Beau Baker had some great races and finished fourth, Grayson Blake Martin showed skills for fifth and Alfie Irons had a solid day in sixth.
Darcie Crane ended the A final in seventh, Austin Cottell was eighth, and Parker Herbert was ninth. Also racing in the A final and well amongst the front runners was Revvi 16″ Open 7-8 year old winner Emelia Bryant, who is looking forward to when the Revvi 18″ bike comes out for her to race on.
In the B Final Alfie Durgan-Brown fended off Ruby Sheppard in second, Elsie Evans in third, and Rae Murray in fourth to take the win.
There was a good entry in the Oset 12.5 class which saw Harley Patel make his first appearance in this class where he took the overall after winning races one and two. Hunter Dunstan was always at the sharp end and with two, third place finishes and a second, and would take the number two spot on the day ahead of Thomas Wozencroft who had one of the rides of the day in the final race where he looked at home in the by now super wet conditions to take the chequers in fine style and finish the event in third. Hunter King showed good speed to finish fourth, Presley Purchase was fifth, Sophia O’Connell was sixth, Daxton Dunham was seventh, and Charlie Masters was eighth.
The Mini-E class was once again full and as always it delivered some epic racing throughout. The A final was an awesome race with Carson Robinson keeping his cool at the head of the field to claim the victory but he had to keep 2023 EXGP Oset 12.5 Champion Oakley Jones at bay and that wasn’t easy as Oakley was showing great speed having had to work his way through the pack. In the end, Carson held onto the win with Oakley second, Kaylum Clark, who has adapted well to the Oset MX10 in third, Louie Bryant in a great fourth, having also only just stepped up into this class, Albie Dallas in a superb fifth, and Charlie Needs on his Torrot in a fine sixth.
Over in the B Final Thomas Wozencroft once again showed his liking for the wet stuff for a dominant win ahead of Cooper Dunstan in second, Joel Allen in third, Logan Edmunds in fourth Charlie Masters in fifth and Harri Fisher had issues and couldn’t finish. Other riders to compete during the day, were Eli Walton, Harvey Nicol, Sophia O’Connell and Harley Cornwall.
Well done to everyone who rode and toughed it out in the tricky and wet conditions. We are super proud of each and every one of you for showing such great determination and true Revvi Cup spirit. Congrats also must go to all of the parents that helped the little racers too.
