Hayden Hammers home convincing win at Gonerby! 2026 Lincolnshire Enduro Championship Round 3 – Race Report & Results

Gonerby Moor seems to attract ‘one-offs’ when the Lincolnshire Enduro Club races there. It’s the only place where the fastest guy on the day hasn’t come from the Experts class. That was back in summer 2022 when Jon Pearson from the Over 40s group was the guy to beat and was the quickest rider on the day.

Something else that is only seen from time to time but is a rarity is a full lap victory in the Experts class. Sponsored by Dust Devils, the club held their third race of 2026 at the Grantham venue on Sunday, over a fast-flowing, hilly and sometimes off-cambered 3.5-mile course. The track would have been bone dry for the 152 riders, but a few biblical downpours on the Saturday evening ensured that a dry line didn’t really appear for the first hour or so of the three-hour event! Indeed, looking at the lap charts over all classes, it seems that most riders’ times got quicker as the event progressed, and dried out somewhat.

West Yorkshire youngster Hayden Stansfield riding his RAW/Braybrook sponsored KTM 250 4T added this dominant victory to his other win at Ashby back in March. Hayden had 22 laps under his belt when the flag dropped, with the winner from April, Jack Leonard, taking up the runner-up position. Current Champ Dan Johnson took third spot. A clear win for Hayden it may have been, but just eight seconds split Jack and Dan. With both Hayden and Jack already using their ‘dropped round card’ this year, Dan leads the chase for the year’s title by nine points. Early days yet though! Whilst there are no prizes for the fastest lap of the day, it was Jack who claimed that ‘title’, just dipping outside the eight-minute barrier. Nobody could get quite into the ‘7’s!

The RAW/Braybrook team had a very proud day as they had even more success in both the Clubman class and the Sportsman 2T too. With 21 Laps ‘scored’, 18-year-old Evan Sharpe riding his Beta 200, took the win in the Clubman class, and in a repeat of the Experts class, it was by a full lap for the Skipton youngster. Whilst Matthew Knowles succumbed to the slippery conditions early on, he battled his way through to a well-earned runner-up spot, and having only dropped two points this year, leads the class by ten points. Niall Bowker, three minutes in arrears, took third place. As well as a class win, Evan also came away with one of the two Hole-shot prizes (sponsored by BP Aircon & Refrigeration). Connor Pickering took the spoils in the 2T class with three minutes to spare from James Cole in second place. Kurt Rafferty took third spot. Ted Johnson still heads the field, but just 6 points cover the first three in the group. The other RAW member on the day was Olly Hill, with an eleventh place in this class. The closest finish over any of the classes was in the other Sportsman group, the four strokes. Under one minute covered all of the podium spots. Sean Palmer (Along with the second hole-shot prize of the day) came away with the win by just eight seconds from Damian Mumford. Ross Pearson came along under fifty seconds after that to the ‘bronze’ medal. On thirty-five points, Ross leads the way this year, but only two points in front of Spencer Smith

It’s a clean sweep so far this year in the Adventure bike class, with Harry Hinkley now on a hat-trick of victories. There seems to be a theme developing here. As per the above, it was another class win by at least one lap! Mike Livesy came home second, with Neil Tapper on the third podium place. Shaun Avison and Ian Jackson have now taken one win each this year in the Trail/Classic bike class. Ian took full points this time out, and in an exchange of places from back in April, Sean was runner-up.

In the Over 40’s class, it was a five-minute win for Paul Hanks over Dan Brown in second spot. Fifty seconds later saw Michael Harris cross the line. Once again, a few riders in this class have already taken advantage of their ‘Nil points’ round and to that end, Michael’s third place sees him lead the way into round four. Messrs Brown and Richard Billups are tied at the moment, eights points behind.

Alex Owen in the Over 50s has only dropped one point so far this year; that was in round two. He got back to winning ways at Gonerby though, this time with just over a minute separating himself and runner-up Alan Vissian. Chasing hard was Danny Clarke in third, just missing out by twenty seconds. Alex obviously leads the title chase but cant afford any slip up’s. Alan is adrift by just three points ! Danny’s ‘bronze’ sees him jump past Gareth Lodges into third for the year.

Similar to the above, another rider with only one dropped point in 2026 is Mark Peckitt in the Over 60’s. A second win of the year on Sunday sees him heading the field this year. Club Stalwart Kevin Bartle Sr finished two minutes later, but has already used his ‘dropped round’ for the year. Martin Southwick was third on the day, a lap down on the leaders.

Eight novices started the race. Well done to all of those guys; it may have been a bit testing, especially in ‘that’ tunnel!
