The action from qualifying and daytime racing suggests that round five of the Arenacross ACU British championship is going to be another battle all the way to the chequered flag this evening at the P&J Live Arena, Aberdeen.
Dean Wilson (Armor Vision / St. Blazey Honda) is making his racing return to Scotland for the first time in 26 years and will want to win in on home turf, but he’s going to have to bring his A-Game and so far he’s done that by topping qualifying ahead of Conrad Mewse (Crendon Tru 7 Honda Racing), albeit by 0.2 of a second. Current champion Jack Brunell (Stark Future Racing) proved he’s getting back into this stride coming in third, just ahead of Tommy Searle (Dirt Store Triumph Racing). Rounding out the top five was Martin Barr (Apico Factory Racing Honda) who is still riding the wave of his podium finish in his home event in Belfast last Friday.

In the youth classes, Cameron Berry took the win the first heat of the ‘Mini’ 65cc class, with Mason Staddon second and Frank Bishop third. Like all the youth classes the overall result will depend on what happens in tonight’s second heat. Elvis Totney took his first heat race win of the tour in ‘Supermini’ 85cc class ahead of championship leader John Slade while Scot and hometown favourite George Cherry took third. Tonight’s Supermini second heat will be all good one, especially with Cherry being urged on by the natives. In the ‘Futures’ 125 class Harry Lee took another win to take some points out of series leader Issac Ash who finished third. Sandwiched between them was Austin Beasty, who would love to back that up with a solid second heat tonight and move himself up from fifth in the championship. The amateur class will once again be a good one to watch as series leader Louis Brookes and Raife Broadley, the man is second trying to chase him down, both topped their qualifying heats through to tonight’s final.
With the largest floorplan of the tour and a partisan Scottish crowd, the penultimate round of the AX British tour in the P&J Live will no doubt deliver a brilliant night’s action once again. And if Dean Wilson can keep his win streak going, he’ll be going home happy along with all the Scottish fans coming out to witness his home coming, but Conrad Mewse and Co, will happily play the spoiler. Especially now knowing that the final round of the Arenacross ACU British championship in Manchester on Saturday 22nd February will have double points up for grabs and anything can and usually happens in Arenacross.
