Fresh off the biggest weekend of his year, the AMA national Keith Johnson promotes at the legendary Southwick circuit in New England; he will be on a transatlantic flight to race the biggest vets event on the world stage, the 2026 VMXdN Hawkstone, held at the historic and iconic Shropshire Grand Prix circuit over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Keith is no stranger to international competition. He will be 56 when the event rolls around, and having turned pro in 1988, he is a journeyman racer who has raced the AMA Supercross and outdoor national series for many years, as well as Canadian nationals. Keith is well known for his tenacious attitude on the track, which is completely different to his easy-going demeanour off it. He is taking this event seriously, as he grew up at the famous MX338 circuit, which is deep sand, very similar conditions to the Hawkstone terrain and is deadly serious and entered in the +50 class, so much so he has bought his own KX500 in the UK and it is being prepped by Steve Wells of KX500tech, so you can expect that bike to be perfectly turned out.

With only eight weeks to go before the event, there is more rider news to come, but the anticipation for the most talked-about race on the British MX calendar, VMXdN, brought to you by The Range, is at an all-time high. Promoters Rob ‘DocWob’ Walters and Dave King have limited VIP camping slots – set up on the terraced area between the hill and start gate with a view over the whole circuit; how cool would it be to be able to sit in your awning and watch the races? Due to demand, they have secured three additional camping fields adjacent to the circuit for regular camping.
Take full advantage of it being a bank holiday weekend, as the weekend starts when the gates open at 12 noon on Thursday, August 27th. With the annual Show’N’Shine display, autograph signing, trade village and legendary beer tent, there is plenty to keep you entertained before the racing action commences on Saturday, August 29th.
VMXdN is the event that legends past and present from around the Globe will take to the line to go bar to bar just like the golden era of ’90s motocross.
