In the series powered by Datatag and supported by Dunlop, Shane Carless (2), James Dodd, Gary Gibson and defending Champion Josh Waterman have recorded the MX1 moto wins. Last time out, Waterman despite suffering from the after-effects of a big crash the previous week in Europe was a surprise starter and bravely picked up what could prove to be a vital 133 Championship points! In the AMCA MX1 title hunt though it’s now FUS Marsh MX Husqvarna star Carless leading the charge, 11 points clear of Dodd. Scoring a maiden AMCA podium spot at Boraston, Neville Bradshaw is currently 3rd in the standings ahead of Gibson, Waterman, Ashley Greedy and Luke Mellows.
Apex KTM UK ace James Wainwright has won both rounds at Norley and Boraston and thus deservedly leads the MX2 Championship chase. The only rider to so far defeat Wainwright is Kristian Whatley and the former ACU Champion is at present sitting in 2nd spot some 25 points behind Wainwright. With a Boraston podium placing, Josh Coleman is now in 3rd in the MX2 standings with Ryan Crowder, Luke Dean, Henry Williams and Clinton Barrs next up.
After scorching to a blistering maximum at Boraston, Chris Povey on the little two-stroke FUS Marsh MX Husqvarna has moved to the top of the AMCA 125cc Championship table. His advantage though is just a very slender 2 points with Lewis Dowdeswell already proving that he will also be a serious title contender! Winning round one, Lewis then finished runner-up at Boraston and is 28 points clear of 3rd placed Ryan Jones with Ryan Zebedee, Ben Watkins, Brad Malin and Nathan Bache filling the early top seven places.
Two rounds down in the AMCA Veterans class and the trio of Jamie Powell (SRH KTM) and the LRT Honda duo of brothers James and Simon Lane are proving to be the dominant force. So far Powell has took 3 out of 5 moto wins with James Lane bagging the other two. That means that Powell also leads the title race just 6 points clear of James Lane with Simon Lane a further 32 points in arrears. After two consistent rounds, Craig Chamberlain currently holds 4th in the Vets from Colin Conduit, Darren Bennett and Martin Atherton.
Once again at Boraston, the AMCA Youth class produced a superb nearly-full start gate and with it some very exciting racing. So far Matt Tolley (Tolley Jewellers/IDS KTM) has been the big point’s scorer, scorching to 4 out of 5 moto wins. The only other rider to enjoy the spoils of a race victory as been Harry Ridgway. However a fall in moto two at Boraston means that Harry is at present having to sit 3rd in the early Championship table behind Tolley and a very consistent Yarin Evans. Also in the mix after the Norley and Boraston rounds are Ezra Blackwell, Joshua Fletcher-Williams, Reece Leverton and Dylan Williams.
So get along to Warmingham Lane (postcode CW10 0HJ) on Sunday for some exciting AMCA Championship action. The circuit can found from Junction 18 of the M6 then take the A54 to Middlewich before picking up the A533.
