Walkers Quadcross adventure continues – Feature Racer Update
Two weekends ago saw the Par homes –Zip –Atv,s ‘R’ Us crew and our feature Quadcross racer Harry Walker travel a 3000 mile round trip to Bucha, near Kiev in the Ukraine to compete in the first round of the European championship.
Lengthy border crossings between Poland and Ukraine proved to be not the only frustration. His equipment was awesome, but Harry just didn’t get the ‘Rub of the Green with race incidents in front of him in both Saturday’s qualifying race and equally Sundays two mains motos.
A start line incident and half raceway through the race a beached rider eluded Walker of the podium in a very close fought battle which secured Walker some good points and fifth overall for the weekend. In two weekends time the euro-circus moves to Estonia a track where Harry did well at last year.
Young Alfie, Harrys younger brother, bounced back at West Meon after a nasty off two weeks prior. He raced the same weekend back in the UK(without Dad) and with 3x ‘back to back’ wins he is proving he is seriously the guy to beat in the 250cc class this year.
With a quick turn-around, it was out to Ireland on Friday for rounds 2 & 3 of the Acu British championship, which proved to be a bit sweeter with Harry on Saturday at Tandragee going 5-2-2 and on Sunday at Tinkerhill 4-2-2.
Harry was proving to be the only man who could take it to the Irish in their own back yard, posting times equal to current championship leader McLernon, but unfortunately never getting the better of him on his home soil !!
Comfortably leading the under 21 category, Walker is still some 29 points behind Mclernon in the main championships with 5 rounds to go …. all in the UK.
Harry is gearing up for this weekend’s Round 4 of the ACU British Championship hosted by home club Nora-MX, which takes place at Mildenhall in Suffolk, a sandy track which appeals to Walker so let’s see if the tables can get turned this weekend ??
