Shipton back with Crescent Yamaha in 2020

WP

Crescent Yamaha is pleased to formally announce its British MX programme for 2020.

Following a successful 2019 season, which saw MX1 rider Jake Shipton deliver a number of break-through performances and secure the Bridgestone Masters Title, Jake returns for his fifth consecutive year with Crescent and is set to tackle a full UK race programme across the ACU British Championship, MX Nationals and will defend his Bridgestone Masters Championship.

As the official Yamaha UK-supported MX1 entry, Jake and Crescent Yamaha will be fighting for podiums on the all-new 2020 YZ450F which will be equipped with Yamaha’s GYTR racing parts and additional technical developments and performance parts from Crescent Yamaha.

The team draws on more than 20 years of racing experience in British Superbike, MotoGP and WorldSBK, as well as a passion for motocross as the UK’s “Destination Dealership” for Yamaha’s Off-Road Pro-Race customer support offering.

The team’s technical partners and sponsors will be announced soon prior to their first competitive outing at the 2020 Hawkstone International on 9th February ahead of the start of the ACU British Championship in March.

Jake Shipton – Crescent Yamaha YZ450F – MX1
“I’m very excited to be staying with Crescent Yamaha for another year and extending our partnership and friendship. I had a strong 2019 with good performances, now I’m looking to take it to the next level, fighting to be up front each and every weekend. Crescent and Yamaha UK give me that confidence and they believe in me which I’m grateful for. I really appreciate this opportunity and not going to let it slip, after riding the new 2020 YZ450F it’s clear that the bike is a good step forward – we have a solid base and I’m looking forward to spending more time on the bike and getting ready for the first races.”

Paul Denning – Managing Director, Crescent Yamaha
“Motocross is ultimately the reason that Crescent Yamaha has become a professional Racing Team in the WorldSBK Championship – if I hadn’t started racing at 7 years old and if that passion hadn’t translated across to the asphalt later on then none of it would have happened! At Crescent Yamaha, MX is still both a big part of our personal lifestyle and of our business. As such, it’s a pleasure to be able to continue to put something back into the sport and for 2020, with Jake riding the much-improved YZ450F in an improved team structure, we are targeting the next step in his performance and to contend with the very best in the British series.”
