RIZZI AND SIMPSON TAKE MAXXIS TOP STEP AGAIN – RFX KTM TEAM REPORT

by adminMay 7, 2019

The RFX KTM powered by PAR HOMES racing team stormed once again to overall wins in MX1 and MXY2 with Charlie Putnam taking a personal best performance in the MX2 class at the 3rd round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championships at Canada Heights on Sunday

Report by Dickie Dye

Shaun Simpson took the fastest lap in qualification and lead the pack to the line. Second round turn-one behind double-holeshotee Jake Millward forced Simpson to fight hard to take the lead on lap three. Tommy Searle moved into second shortly after but his attack was short-lived and he dropped back 14 seconds at the flag.

Moto2 was a copy of moto1, with Jake M launching again to the front of the pack. By lap-five, Simpson lead a fast-chasing Searle but Shaun had done enough at the start of the race and took win-two but only by 0.2 of a second.

Simmo still hugs his red plate and now moves eight points ahead of Searle at the top of the UK MX1 tree.

Joel Rizzi had to dig deep to take the overall win in the MXY2 class once again and this weekend he certainly didn`t have it all his own way…

P2 in quali was an omen for what unfolded in moto1, with Joel pushing hard to the front of the field only to have his lead snatched away by Ike Carter before the halfway point… Following a crash by another rider, the race was stopped and restarted in a rolling-line lead by Carter who hung on for the win.

Moto2 saw Rizzi in determined form and this time resisted attacks from Dominic Lancett and Carter to take the win and the overall result…

Nathan Dixon managed to grab two championship points in MX1 moto2 but had a disappointing day overall after being caught up in no-fault crashes, while in MX2, Charlie Putnam just missed points in MX2 moto1 but had a career-best UK Maxxis Championship result in moto2 with a well-earned P13…

All roads lead to Mantova in Italy next week for the next MXGP and European Championship races…

See you there…
