A statement from the organisers is below…
“For weeks we have been following with concerns all the measures announced in the uncertainty generated by the pandemic evolution. We tried to anticipate what might happen and we were set for early June to reach a formal decision. Doubt is no longer allowed, so it is with regrets but awareness and responsibility that we inform you of the postponement of our 34th edition in 2021. Health and safety of all of you riders, teams, partners, exhibitors, various stakeholders and our volunteer’s team are our main priority.
A decision based on the measures of the authorities
Many riders, people and partners have shown their support during the last days, months. Will the 34th Mondial being held or not, was their main worries. Until the lockdown was extended, the entire organizing team imagined all the possible scenarios and everything was being set up so that the race could still take place.
Following the intervention of the Prime Minister and the announcement of the procedures for deconfinement, we will not be authorized to organize our event on the dates initially scheduled. Being in the impossibility of organizing this meeting makes us feel extremely sad.
A postponement to better prepare for 2021
This is indeed a postponement given the actions already undertaken for this edition. The dates in 2021 cannot be settled yet but it will probably happen in the second half of August, as every year.
This postponement will however have a significant cost which the association will have to bear with. A core of volunteers, but also two employees and service providers have been working on the event since September 2019 to prepare for this event. From the end of the Summer, we will set out again for the 2021 edition.
At the same time the 50 ha site can’t be left without maintenance until next year and will need to be maintained.
We are counting on you: pilots, partners, and exhibitors to be on our side, and support us during this difficult period and allowing us to carry on this big motorsport festival by postponing their entries to 2021. We are also counting on the city of Pont de Vaux, the Community of Commune Bresse and Saône, the department of Ain and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region to maintain their faithful and precious help.
The cancellation of this 2020 edition also puts in great difficulty all the players related to this wonderful human adventure: service providers, suppliers, merchants of Pont de Vaux who work every day during the weeks around the Mondial du Quad. We would like to show them our most sincere support, and we also think about our friends-volunteers, track marshals, race directors, without them nothing could be possible.
We are so frustrated and we can imagine how much you are too.
We can’t wait for 2021 welcoming you again. The festival will be all the more fantastic!”
